This was an unfathomable hire. LSU is a Research 1 university with major sports programs and a large Greek system. She had no experience with a university like LSU, and it was clear during the search process that she was not a strong candidate. The recent scandals involving the Greek system could have been handled much better by someone with appropriate experience.
One of the major problems with F. King Alexander is that he has never been involved with a Research 1 university with major sports programs and a large Greek system, and hence he does not have the first clue about running a university like LSU. His approach of hiring administrators from weak schools that do not fit LSU's profile has been a disaster. This is one of the reasons why we see administrative fiasco after administrative fiasco on the LSU campus.

I think he was hired by Jindal to railroad the New Orleans hospital to
Completion, though I forget the exact circumstances.

USNWR rankings for LSU have plummeted under F King as well. It’s gone down every year. At this point, stagnation would be seen as positive.

Instead of trying to improve the things LSU is famous for, they attacked the institutions that made us great. She came in with a negative attitude of the atmosphere and tried to shoehorn her philosophy into it rather than address shortcomings in the atmosphere and trying to curb bad behaviour while still allowing the fun.

He was also hired to usher in and “allow” the extremely massive reduction in state funding. Jindal let him put up token resistance to the cuts, but his main job was to absorb the anger and dissension from deans, department heads, and professors.

This can be laid squarely at the feet of Bobby Jindal, who, as I state any time this comes up, wanted to eliminate ALL state funding of higher education. All of it.
