I think artistic endeavors avoid obscenity if they aren't sexual in nature.
Having said that, It is hard to argue the scene in Pretty Baby isn't sexual, since she is living in a Cathouse about to be deflowered.
Same for SFP's scene in American Beauty. She isn't having sex but clearly she wants to titillate ,pun intended, the neighbor.

Her mom was a stage mother/fame whore and bat shite crazy. Her father, who came from money and royalty (his mother was an Italian princess) was sort of outside the picture, in the periphery.

I have friends who lived in the same building with Shields & Agassi in NYC for several years. Their (both couple's) kids were around the same age. My friends report that she (Shields) was a good mother and human being.
