Circle k is buying out most small chain stores. They've bought out kangaroo and Valero so far..

The remodeled Racetracks are pretty awesome. Seems like Circle K is going the same route. That one on George O'Neal and Jones Creek is a lot nicer than a typical Circle K

They sold off most if not all of their Houston stores too. Still see them in Dallas or Austin, but the chain isn't nearly as prominent as it used to be.

Still big in California.

Time Saver is GOAT. Where else can you get a tank of gas, a bottle of liquor, a weed grinder, and a seafood platter at?

7-11 purchased the 42 Pak a Sak stores from G. Allen Pennimen Jr. in 1971. I was working for them while attending LSU. It was still 7-11 when I left there in 72, not sure when Circle K took over. The Circle K also purchased the Phil a Sac, and Little General convienence stores.

Damn ! I'm thirsty for a slurpie now !

Actually. In the late 1980's, I went to school in Houston. Across campus was a 7-11. I was a broke student and would scramble dimes and quarters to buy a refrigerated sandwich from 7-11. Kept me full until Mondays rolled around.

7-11 is such a dog compared to quiktrips, sheetz and wawa. Nasty workers, slow, just crap all around.

I remember being sad as a young child when the 7-11's closed and the Circle K didn't have the Slurpie machines.

Circle K's had Slush Puppie machines back then (as I remember) and they were a terrible knock-off.

Allen Penniman brought Icee here with his Pac a Sak stores and they are far superior to 7-11 Slurpee. Thank goodness you can still find them. I used to buy the BBQ Beef sandwiches from the Jefferson Highway/Lobdell location for $.25 a piece and man they were good and fresh.

I had a nice talk with Mr. Penniman a couple weeks ago and he is doing very well. He will be 90 in November. Great man.

Grew up on Mason Smith at the same time. I can relate.

Tons of 7/11's out here. Always fun to get a free Slurpee on July 11th.

I wasn't aware of 7/11's in Japan. Guess that I shouldn't be surprised, as I recently found out that they also have lots of Cafe' Du Mondes there.

I think circle k bought out the BR 7-11's 88-89. Wasn't that about the time the Baptist stepped on 7-11's dick for selling porn and 7-11 gave in?

Yeah. I have a 7-Eleven every 3 blocks where I live. I like that they upgraded their brand a few years ago. Products with their name on it are top notch. But they tolerate and encourage homeless panhandling so I stay far away.
