It cracks me up that people pumping NBR claim it's this huge untapped market yet they can't create any businesses without the government starting businesses for them.

It was a St George joke and I don’t visit the BR zoo, going to Audubon is worth the extra 25 minutes

Long story short the democrats have completely fricked the black community as a whole by making them generationally defendant on their own demise.

The only thing that will end the welfare state is dedicated effort from a GOP Congress and President to force major reform and declare certain aspects unconstitutional.

Even people who desperately want to leave the system have a hard time because its designed to make transitional efforts brutal.

Gravy c and helmut head and others want their cake and also to scarf it down.

A. They do not want SG or any type of balkanization to occur because for them to have what they have, they need the upper class.

B. Meanwhile, they hate any of us who did not get bent out of shape over A.S. or the Castille guy in MN. They protest but I guess their best case outcome is for us to change our minds and see it their way (and much more).

C. North Baton Rouge this and that...but they hate it that they must rely on the same people they hate for the bill-footing. And why would anyone with brain matter want tax dollars to just burn themselves?

D. The zoo...what a waste of breath.

There was a letter to the editor shortly after Alton Sterling incident that addressed what happened to NBR. It was written by a black man of the middle class that was a former resident of Glen Oaks area. He basically said that 20 yrs ago the middle class black families were happy to live there and kept up with each other and watched out for the kids in the neighborhood... or what most close knit neighborhoods do. Then the drug wars with crack and meth started moving in. And with the residential development of the fringes of BTR booming relocation offered better circumstances for the NBR black middle class and many moved out leaving many impoverished neighborhoods. The letter writer was addressing the culture of violence that has taken over in NBR but the narritive fits your point as well.

There were still many working class white families in Glen Oaks in the 80s. I had a few friends that lived there.

Drive around NBR, look at the current businesses that are open, find the one with the most and open one of those.

In my experience, The word has a narrow meaning whenever a white guy says it. sometimes so narrow that only white people are even capable of being racist. And liberals make sure to educate everyone on this point.

The word has a very broad meaning when a non-white person says it. Anything and everything can be racist, no matter how innocuous.

Since you guys can’t get the St. George shite together, y’all want to kick the great north BR folks out of your city?

As a taxpayer in BR proper not included in SG this would be my preference.

They can call their city St. Alton.

North Baton Rouge wouldn't make it a year before going bankrupt. They can't pay for themselves, the southern part of Baton Rouge pays for all the shite NBR gets.

st. George created.
Politicians legalize recreational marijuana but can only be sold in NBR.
NBR gentrified.
St. George becomes shithole.

i hope everybody in Baton Rouge sees the Mayor is only looking out for the people that put her in office. She would rather let the zoo rot in North Baton Rouge on the taxpayers dime, rather than put it in a thriving location where corporate money will take alot of the burden off of taxpayers

Sounds like you get it. Racist is hate against people of another race e.g. Caucasian or black or mongaloid. Hate or distaste for someone of another country e.g. Mexican, French, Italian, etc. is prejudice not racist.

NBR will never be independent unless it stops using the South BR tax base for superfluous ideas such as a Zoo.
do some people honestly believe that some award winning, remodeled zoo in it's present location will help the nbr area?i can't honestly see places like Fuqua or north street ever making a comeback.

What will be funny is if the area ever starts to make a comeback, the roar of complaints about increased housing costs due to gentrification and the locals being pushed out will be amusing to see.
