Why are they playing an NFL game in Sao Paulo?

That place is an overcrowded shithole. I read that the teams were instructed not to leave the hotel for their safety. At least two players got their hands slapped for saying they didn't want to go. It just doesn't make sense. I can at least make a plausible case for London and Mexico City, both of which have a ton of NFL fans. What's in Sao Paulo except squalor?

Brazil is a hugely populous country.
They are trying to expand the game globally and taking it places its never been.
So the answer is: Money.

There's a decent amount of Packer fans that live there and it's a chance to expand the NFL footprint.

Then go to Japan or something
Not a crime ridden 3rd world shithole that throws you in jail for free speech stuff

Brazil is one of the great "Meccas" of soccer and isn't even a top 10 country in terms of US expats. This is a stupid decision by the NFL.

I heard that green is synonymous with gang activity there. Yet the NFL chooses the Packers and the Eagles as their teams to play there.

It was supposed to be in St. Paul, but got mixed up in translating

Brazil has the same timezones as the US. Japan would be a challenge for a regular season game for very obvious reasons.
I'm not saying I agree with the decision but Brazil has 215 million people and is the most populous country in South America. Its the 2nd most populous country in the Western Hemisphere by a very wide margin.
So that is obviously the reasoning. The NFL sees it as a long term project to make the game more global.

Is it really any more dangerous than New Orleans, Baltimore, Philly, Cleveland?
The little NFL prima donnas will be just fine.
But playing international games is stupid in general but the outcry about Brazil is dumb.

What's the average income in Brazil?

Money and woke virtue signaling. The NFL stopped being about football some time ago.
