Where in south Texas?? In the late 80s Brownsville had King Mart and Lopez (and a terrible grocery called Pronto)

You could buy live chickens at the Lopez store

HEB is the best grocery store I have ever visited in the 30 states I have traveled.

Closest grocery chain that I can compare H-E-B with would be Festival Foods in NE Wisconsin, I'll drive by a Kroger in order to get to H-E-B.

Piggly wiggly used to be in lots of small towns down here but pretty sure all that is left is HEB or Lowes. I'm a big fan of Lowes personally.

If they can go to DFW then no reason they can’t come to LA

Other than the pitiful business climate and clientele not being able to afford high end grocery stores

HEB prices are cheaper than most LA stores

Man i remember king mart on price road. There was a hardware store called Handy Dan’s i went to with my dad a lot right by there. There was also this skinny white fella we’d always see bumming around King mart. I asked my dad why he was so skinny and he told me “he’s probably a running man” so we started calling him the running man. Preeeetttty sure in retrospect he was a crackhead.

HEB is tGOAT.

I don’t mind Kroger, Publix, Albertson’s or Rouse’s but HEB is in its own tier

Where will they get the workers? Bring em in by bus in the morning, and ship em back every night? Our workforce in LA will kill good service in any great grocery store like HEB, Publix, or a business like Buccee's, etc.

As for the lack of them in Dallas, I thought that the people there believed HEB's to be too "pedestrian" for their "refined tastes".

There are many great products at HEB that I can't find anywhere else. They usually have beef plate ribs and wagyu beef in the butcher block and their fresh tortillas are some of the best things in the store. I stock up every time I go to Texas, and stick a bunch of packages in the freezer for later.

Have a buddy running a bunch of controller projects for the freezers at HEB around the DFW area.

Hot H-E-B tortillas alone make it the best grocery store.

Dallas isn’t worth of H-E-B it’s a shame y’all get them now.

Central Market

Is not the same as HEB!

Sure, you have a store owned by HEB, but it doesn't have the same shite.

I live closer to a central market, but will usually go to HEB instead because Central Market will always not have something I need. Too much like Whole Foods with those specialty supplement and makeup aisles. DFW thinks they know HEB, but they really don't know HEB.

Did you not in this very thread about HEB say that you were in a Central Market? YOU don't know HEB, and neither does anyone else that says "Well, Dallas has Central Market."

They're not the same, and I just explained why.
