Full sized trucks are a PITA to drive/park and if you don't really need one (90+% of people) then a smaller is much nicer to live with.
I moved from an F150 to a 4runner and the 4runner feels like a go-kart by comparison. As for the lost utility, I've had to borrow my Dad's F250 maybe 2 or 3 times since 2014. If I hauled more stuff I would buy a trailer to pull behind the 4runner, but I just haven't made a habit of schlepping around rocks + lumber.

No not "all the time", but I constantly hear nightmare stories of lemon Chevys and Fords. I've never heard one about a Tacoma.

If everybody drove a Toyota I'd have to get in the tire business instead of the repair business.
Such an accurate statement! Not your typical truck brag type baw, but the Toyota's are pretty invincible. For a 1/2 ton truck (referring to the tundra), what they're able to tow effectively is pretty amazing. Resale blows me away every time I've traded one in too.
200K+ really hard miles and have done one break job and changed oil. Meanwhile wife's suburban has had the AC condenser go out (research that frick job and see how you feel about GM), water seeps in after a big rain, and numerous other nickle and dime problems have come up. All immediately after factory warranty was up. Such a smooth ride, but not worth the problems. No decision for me from here on out.

One could argue they have a longer life expectancy, but GM/Ford can easily get 250K+.
Mine F150 is 17 years old (yeah OT poor) and 230,000 miles.
I’ve changed the alternator, fuel pump, and AC compressor.
My 2010 Tacoma has 304,000 and I've done nothing but change one wheel bearing.
I use Mobil 1 synthetic and change the oil every 20,000 miles.
I didn't even change the serpentine belt until 180,000 miles.

I'm a large man so I like a large vehicle. The Tacoma is just not going to cut it fo me.
I'm 6 foot 1 and weigh 305. Yeah, I'm fat but a Tacoma has plenty of room for me.

It’s probably my next car, that or 4Runner
Recently went through this same decision and went with the 4Runner. Inside a little roomier, I preferred the cargo space to a truck bed for my needs, and if I ever need to move something bigger with the back seats flat it’s basically the same size as the taco bed.
Can’t go wrong either way.
A full size truck is pointless for most of my needs and driving it around and parking it during the week would be a giant pain in the arse.

I don't need a full size truck and my Tacoma is going on 10 years old now and has had very minimal work on it

I got a 2011 trd offroad right now with 155k on it. She is just getting started. Will probably get a car for work soon though

My question back to you is are they really the same price as a full size? A quick Google search shows the base price for a Tacoma being 25k, an f150 28k, and a Silverado 40k.
While there isn't a huge difference in the f150 and Tacoma, it is cheaper, and I'd imagine that f150 price is for something similar to a fleet vehicle. So you should be getting more for your money with the Tacoma. And the Silverados are significantly more expensive.
Now if we are talking used, the prices get more comparable, however, that just drives home the point that Tacoma's are more reliable, durable, and longer lasting. Therefore, they hold value longer.
