Why are racquetball/squash courts so unpopular?

We have plenty of gyms around the country, but you usually only find racquetball/squash courts in the older facilities.
I don’t know if you’ve played, but those sports are highly energetic and a lot of fun. Why aren’t these sports (and their courts) more popular?
Play racquetball 3 days a week for a month and you’ll lose incredible amounts of weight.

I played a lot of racquetball in my day. When at LSU, we played in the dungeons at the Huey P. long Fieldhouse/pool.

They are niche sports with precious little visibility

I think most Squash players are happy to see it remain a niche sport. They don’t feel a need to evangelize.

Courts take up a lot of space and it isn’t popular

Tennis isn't overly popular, either.
Racquetball is fun times. Guess it's too hard for younger people to play racquetball and take selfies at the same time.

Racquetball/squash courts attract undesirables. My neighborhood has an unofficial ban on them.

I use to play at Renaissance in home, I was pretty decent but they had this one old bald headed man that would wear everyone out. He stood in one spot and made you run your arse off, I didnt know how he did it, but my legs haven't forgiven hime yet.

There are tennis and racquetball courts at my club.
I have yet to see anyone play tennis. Racquetball gets some play.
Club is enormous. Indoor and outdoor Olympic pools.
The main thing happening is women Zumba and men pumping iron. Some do treadmill.
I ride bike and pump iron.
I'm trying to get my housemate to play racquetball.
