Why are people on science fiction forums more mature and intelligent?

There are intelligent people here but it seems like half of the people here are only interested being dumb or pretending they are dumb.

Why is that?

Come back after you've cleared out Known Space, Frank Herbert's first 6 Dunes, Destination Void series, some Lovecraft, Jules Verne, HG Wells, Arthur C Clarke, and Robert Heinlein, you poof.

And then go to the book board or make threads about something other than old TV shows.
