A lot of them have terrible attitudes and are rude as hell. It's why people like Chick-fil-A and Canes so much. But I do agree, they are better than the ones that don't work at all

Most of our fast food joints have decent workers (typical small town array of fast food joints).

The McDonald's at night is weak. Our Sonic used to be stellar until they moved it. Now, it is weak.

I rarely come across that attitude - even in Shreveport. New Orleans - I could see that being a big issue.

I think a lot of people have bad views of them because the service is inconsistent at best for many of them. Not to mention a lot of them have bad attitudes. Then again, I would have a bad attitude if I was over 30 and flipping burgers for a living.

Why?

Because most of them suck at their jobs. No one cracks wise at Chik-fil-a workers that get your order right every time. The ones who earn scorn are the employees at places like McDonald's, BK, and Popeye's that consistently get orders wrong, are argumentative with customers, and generally act like they can't give two f&%ks about their job.

This is the hangup with most fastfood workers.

Don't eat fast food but would not from me. At least they are trying, and working, as opposed to collecting a gov check.

Because they feel entitled to money they do not deserve.

Fast food is bottom rung, it's a summer/start job, not a career. You want more $$, learn more skills, be more useful, not just trying to man the shake machine.

If you cook at McDonalds, go talk to a Chef, and move up and become a prep, then line cook, then chef at a real eatery. Then you can demand more money.

It's because it's minimum wage work. It's as low as you can get (relatively speaking) on the totem pole.

Same is true for all minimum wage jobs. I respect people who take those jobs to make ends meet and are willing to grind out a living. That said, it's not something people aspire to, so if you're doing that work, you are most likely young or you made bad choices in life.

Huh?

You said the majority of FF workers have shitty attitudes. My anecdotal experience says that is mostly true at Burger King, Popeyes, and Taco Bell, but Canes, Chick-fil-a, and even the local McDonalds have adequate to great customer service.

I don't think anyone scorns young fast food workers. They're teens and are supposed to have shitty attitudes. It's the fricking 30 year old barista or Burger flipping loser that cops an attitude that is ridiculed.

As for Canes, I know they never work holidays, but why else are the employees generally so good? Do they get paid substantially over minimum wage?

I've never owned a business, but if I did and it was successful, everyone would make well above minimum wage. I would think happy workers=good workers=more profit for me in the long run. But I never went to business school, so I could be wrong.

Have you ever been to a fast food restaurant before? About 90% of them don't do their best at their jobs. 9.9% is chick fil a. The other 0.1% is people at others (McDonald's, BK, JitB, etc.) that give their best effort.

Are you serious? I would think common sense would dictate otherwise.

I get the idea that to maximize profit, you can cut costs by paying workers less. To me, it is greed by the corporations. For McDonalds, what is the difference between making 100 billionty dollars and 99 billionty dollars? Why not compensate your employees a little better and maybe they will give you a better effort?

I already know the answer. Enough people are still going to go to Mcdonalds, no matter how shitty the service, so there is no need to pay above minimum wage. And as long as the stockholders are raking in the $, that's all that matters.

It sucks in theory, but I get it.

Fast food jobs were never designed for a career unless you were going into management. These jobs are for people in school, getting an education to qualify them for a career.

Some of it are typical elitist pricks that look down on people with low wage jobs - even young part time workers.

Some of it are people that encounter fast food workers that are incompetent or poorly managed.
