Why are Doctors still insisting on masking their clients?

Of all the people who would have some basic knowledge about how aerosolized respiratory viruses work, why is my freaking dermatologist requiring me to wear a mask when I visit, only to take the mask off when she gets in my face to examine my skin. It is so bizarre to me. In Houston, it seems the masking in doc offices is here to stay.

Side bar: I've seen many in the gen pop walking around in public with mask on chin April 2023. WHY?????

I have been to three different doctors and a dentist in the last few months and none of them wore masks.

liability insurance demands it most likely

its not a bad idea on your own. every time i went to the doctor i got sick from being there and picked up a cold or flu bug, so its not a bad idea, but it shouldnt be mandatory.

It’s amazing to me some of the Drs.that I once respected fell so deeply for the fear porn,it’s like they lost every bit of common sense.

On masks, anyone in the medical profession should know that the only mask of any effectiveness is the N-95.Yet,I saw Drs. out in public with masks. This was after the mask mandates were lifted.
I would argue that cloth masks do more harm than good in that they collect and get saturated with moisture from respiration, almost like wearing a Petri dish on one’s face.Yet,I recently saw a Dr out with a cloth mask on.
I ran into a retired surgeon I knew (very good surgeon) at Sam’s 2 weeks ago wearing a mask.He proceeded to tell me that he had just gotten over a severe episode of Covid that put him down for 10 days. His exact words -“I’ve had all the vaccinations and boosters and still got it,I don’t understand”.

He asked me if I had it,I said yes Feb22nd,took ivermectin and my symptoms were gone next day.Did the same for 20 y o grandson and 16 yo granddaughter with same results, none of us were vaxxed.
The look in his eyes was that he was totally baffled.

Cause they're dumbasses.

I never required one except in common areas for patients that were scared shitless. I'd tell them to take that shite off if they wanted to once in the room. frick dem mask!

This

I never wore one all thru Covid other than a few times I had to enter a hospital to visit a family member. The whole mask deal was fricking stupid and did not prevent one single bit of illness other than MAYBE on an airplane.

I haven't been in a doctor's office that still requires masks in probably close to two years.

Nope. It's up to the patient. IDGAF if they wear one or not, but I'm not going to mandate it or wear one myself. Don't like it? Go elsewhere.

Everyone working at my optometrist’s office had them on but no patients. I just made sure to cough.

I know some that do it so their brainwashed, fearful patients aren't deterred from visiting. Especially in derm, plastics, and gyns that have a much higher percentage of those people they are dependent on to pay the bills.

Wrong. If a doctor is still requiring them because they think they give protection, they are illogical thinkers, uninformed and lack the ability to think for themselves. That's not what you want in a diagnostician.

Some doctor's offices are in hospitals, or on hospital property. If so, they are most likely subject to the current hospital rules. The CDC is still mandating that hospitals require masks based on local Covid positivity rate. It's crazy this is still a thing in 2023, but CDC is nuts. Now, doctors who have private offices who still require masks are just woke and stupid.

Hard to avoid when the entire Methodist Hospital system is requiring them from the top levels down. UGH.

I work at the VA and they require us to mask at the hospital. We are the last hospital in town that is masking.
