It's especially ridiculous in government. We've been programmed to believe that the government is our ultimate protector and has no ulterior or self centered motives. Every time there's talk of reducing size of government, they make it sound like the whole government will collapse.

Again, agree. I appear lib because I can't stand what our government is. Any regime, Trump included. Truth is I can't stand the game politics is. Designed to make the populace bicker, argue then fight ourselves. I would give anything to see a day when a voter turnout was 0.00%.

I just get tired of watching my money get wasted then get told I'm the a-hole for supporting the notion of trying to make the system smaller or more efficient

People who say this have no fricking clue what they talk about.
I guess you are one of those "we don't need government"? While I don't think every part of our lives should be governed, you still need a fricking government.
If you don't have a strong government, then crime lords would take over and start running shite. Most countries in South America is a good example. Jackass.

if the federal Govt. shuts down the States would take over eventually returning to something closer to what the founding father envisioned
even total collapse of the National Govt would result at worst in regional governments.
You act like there is but one level of government in this County,, when the context is clearly the Fed shutdown

I get what you’re saying. But I think that’s just the nature of a democracy or representative republic. It’s the worst form of government, except for all the others.

Our federal government should be about 10% of the size that it currently is.

This x 1000. Our founding fathers are turning in their graves at what the federal govt has become. They founded it originally with each state having the power and the federal govt would step in to solve state to state matters. Now the states have no power.
