you don't see hotel managers and car dealers beat their chest on facebook when hotel and car prices are high... nor cry when they're low

Maybe. But do we ever see Pray For Sheetrockers tee shirts on FB?

I don't have FB but I just assumed they were all illegals at this point.

They are. And we're pretty lucky to have them quite honestly. I know I don't want to tape and mud.

Probably poor examples on my part but I guarantee you that if social media existed when we started importing Chinese steel we'd have been praying for families in Pittsburgh and Birmingham on FB.

I understand the disdain for Pitbulls, school teachers, Democrats, travel ball baseball, etc. But why do so many posters on here take shots at the good people of the Oil & Gas industry? There are a few jackasses but most of them are ordinary people who actually want to work but are just victims of unfortunate circumstances

I believe it comes from the glee and gloating a decade ago when gas hovered between $3 and $4/gallon.

You can take the Baw out of the oil field, but you can't take the oil field out of the baw.

And FWIW, I have no ill will towards the oil field guys. But I also don't feel bad for them right now. They picked their industry, and they have to live with it. In both the good times and the bad.

As for me, I'll take my steady office job because I value job security. I may not make as much as the oil field guys when the price of oil goes through the roof, but I also have nothing to worry about when oil prices bottom out.

If you live in Louisiana, Houston or some other area with heavy ties to the industry you might. Local or regional economic activity has an impact on just about all other industries.

I just don't get why there is more publicity on gas prices than the prices of anything else in this world. It would be nice to show the actual price of gas and then the taxes. It is also amazing how cheap gas is though considering what it takes to make gasoline. I think gasoline is cheaper than a gallon of water right now.

I’m sure Bayou Tiger 225 lives in an area completely isolated from the drop in oil prices
