Because teachers act like they're all underpaid martyrs when in reality they're on the same curve as cops. 10% great, 10% good, 50% ok, 30% bad.

I don't dislike them, but gas over say $2.50 is price gouging, plenty of money to be made by everyone keeping prices moderate.

I would love to know what data the $2.50 number is based on.

Is there an acceptable amount of exaggerating? Is it even possible to under exaggerate? Asking for a friend.

You think? 90% of the OT cram 15 people into a days inn room in Galveston just so they can say they went to the beach

.....because the tree hugging democrats have convinced the masses that fossil fuels will destroy the planet. They assail O&G Companies even as they climb on board their private jets to fly back home to their districts.

Haven't they been saying that for 50 years? I am still waiting for the world to be destroyed.

It is interesting how everyone on TD makes $500,000 a year yet has a net worth of $5,000.

Let's see...

They went into an industry that they know is constantly up & down.

They flaunt their money when they have it, buy huge obnoxious trucks with stupid stickers on the back windows. Then they buy their skank wives overpriced mid-SUVs and slap a bunch of spoiled oilfield wife stickers on the backs of their windows too.

Then when oil prices are down they cry about it on social media and expect other to feel sorry for them.

A lot of oilfield guys aren't like this, but its the vocal (& visual) minority that give them a bad name.

No long explanation I can type out would explain why people hate you more that your above statement. You’re arrogant and want people to pay more for gas to help you keep your industry afloat. Maybe if you were more humble, people would want to help more. I’ll enjoy my $1.80 a gallon. Learn to code, baw.

There’s soo many fun nuggets packed in this one.
1) I don’t care if you find me arrogant - cool
2) The company I work for and the big Name O&G companies in this country make less than 1 cent off a gallon of gasoline. We’re not in the gasoline business you peasant. And our portfolio is far far far more diverse in research, oil byproducts, natural gas, and cleaner fuel alternatives than peddling gasoline to the masses. Which is what I’ve hinted at since page 3.
3) The chump change you pay for gasoline isn’t keeping anyone afloat. See #2. Yes, smaller to medium sized O&G companies are likely to be in a world of hurt right now and a lot will go under. But that isn’t due to the price at the pump. Is that point clear yet? Regardless, that doesn’t effect me personally in any way.

No one wants your help, bye.

this is the funniest part.

I can code. What are we talking? PHP, Python, C, C++, SQL? I’m familiar with all of them. Hell I even have some Cobol experience I could dust off.

Well I’m glad you’re so set up. Good for you. Best wishes to you and your fam.

I don’t have time to back and forth all day with the laid-offs. I’m still employed, so I have to do stuff. Good luck.

It's insecurity. A bunch of pretend silver spooners working cubicle jobs for mediocre pay hate the idea that these HS graduates make money.

It's a fake sort of elitism that stems from living in a bubble.

Sure it's schadenfreude, but it's also disdain for the vocal, stereotypical baw with a spending problem during times of feast who socks nothing away for times of famine.

You find these in any occupation. Most just don't have the money to blow.

Most of the oil field and mining baws I know have at least some post secondary education.

I think some of them have garnered a reputation for being under-educated people who make more than they're worth.

Not saying I believe that. At least, not entirely.
