I inherited my dad's 1970s Oyster Datejust, with the original packaging, and even the original bag he took it home in.
He got it from his company when we lived in Dubai.

My dad has worn a white face Explorer II for years. He paid less than a thousand for it. It's worth about ten times that now, even with some scratches and being way overdue for service. I never had the watch bug until recently when I started to get interested it of the blue. TBH there's probably a little "look at me. I've arrived," to it. Cheaper than a boat.

Out of sheer curiosity, what do you do for a living? Or what field are you in?
I think I may be in the wrong business

Alright rolex baws...need some help.
Can buy a 1961 GMT pepsi that was just serviced. Doesn't have the band so I'll rock it with a nato.
$8k. Easy buy?

Whose got a Rolex?
I've got two Rolex's, a Vintage Oyster Perp Datejust and a White Explorer II. I want one more.
What is the best way to get a Stainless Daytona at a reasonable price? I'd even consider a two tone at a reasonable price.
(Insider info, I've bought 2 women's Rolex's at two different Mayor's in Florida over the years. Would this give me clout?)
(Additional info, "All My Ex's Have Rolex's...)
The prices have gone crazy. I'm lost.

This is what a bought a couple of years ago. It would cost me 40% more if I tried to buy it today.

Quickest way 4x's retail
Reasonable?
Depends on what you consider reasonable, at the present that's 2.5-3x's retail

I realize that.
I specified best.
Do you ever bring your Porsche to SIR?

not sure of the size of your watch, but try Uncle Seiko for a metal band.

Thanks. Think 8k is a decent deal?

If authentic that is a very good deal. I would want it looked at by an expert though. Lots of things affect the value on a vintage watch. Refinished dial probably being number 1. Could you post a picture?

Oyster Day/Date -
Paid $1000 for it in ‘84 and last I checked, the replacement value is around $5000.
I wouldn’t sell it, but I never wear it. I will leave it to my SIL.

I would defer to Obtuse on that.
I've been on waiting list for an Explorer 2 for 15 months. No luck yet. In the meantime, I got a Back Bay 58 and absolutely love it. Not sure if you have one, but worthy of consideration to collection.

I've been on the "list" for a sub date for about that same time. I got a Pelagos in the meantime.

Nice. Have you seen the Black Bay Pro that just came out? Looks impressive.
