I’m on my second Seiko automatic, a 4R36A movt, loses about 2 minutes/month. Although i did stop it the other day splitting firewood. I’m not sure a Rolex could handle me.
The 4R36A (along with the 7Sxx and 6Rxx) movements all share a "design flaw" that when jarred can allow the hairspring to get looped around the regulator pin. Usually, it only makes the watch run super fast but it can cause it to stop, so it may or may not be your issue.
All mechanical watches can succumb to high deceleration G-forces like are produced when splitting wood but Rolex has significantly better shock resistance than the inexpensive Seiko movements. It is best practice to take them off before that type of activity. Some watches like Ball have some really serious shock protection, their proprietary version is called SpringLOCK.

One of my watch nut friends just sent me a text:
Harsh but funny for the tiny number of people that would get the joke.
I did reply that he left out 5020 and 5004. He responded he doesn't like TV or splits.

If you just see random numbers go to the mall and buy a Rolex to show off to your friends.

Obtuse, what are thoughts about Zenith?

They make solid watches. The most popular, and rightly so, is the El Primero chronograph with the Zenith 400 high beat (36,000 vibrations per hour aka 5 hz) movement. The movement is arguably the first automatic chrnograph movement and debuted in 1969, I say arguably because depending on how one scores that it could be the Seiko 6139 as well. The tri-color is probably the most popular with its three different subdials. The negative to the El Primero is the small movement (13.5 lignes) means the subdials overlap each other and therefore hard to read in certain parts of the dial. Not an issue 99.9% of the time.
Despite not being one of the original 5 flieger (pilots watch) manufacturers I like some of their pilots watches as well.
Zenith is a manufacturer you should expect deep discounts on the street price for most of the collection is between 35 and 40% off retail.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at their moon phase watches and really like the look of them.

Sure, just a generic one from Office Depot. It makes it fairly easy to find my contact information so yes - it 's worth the $25 or so I paid for it.

If ever need to trade my Rolex for a car, I can do it. I doubt your or GShock will provide much in the way of barter.

Are you looking at one of the El Primero moon phase watches or one of the ones in the Captain series?
If you are looking for a moon phase watch you have to at least take a look at the JLC offerings. The Master Ultra Thin Moon (aka MUT Moon) is arguably the quintessential modern moon phase watch. For a slightly less dressy look, the Master Calendar is also very nice.
Jaeger-LeCoultre is often referred to as the watchmakers watch and for good reason. They have one of the richest histories of any watch manufacturer. Their movement finishing punches well above their price point.

I had already earmarked the JLC Master Calendar as my possible next purchase.

JLC are like PAtek's to me. In that I thank god I do not really like them. They are so far beyond my means.
I did make the mistake of trying on a Tudor Pelagus (sp?). Black dial with matte markings and a red name accent. I put it on and it had me reaching for the plastic. Dave Ramseys voice screamed in my head, and I thanked the salesman and handed the watch back. $4500 retail at Ben Bridge. I assume since Tudor is Rolex that negotiation is minimal to non existent.
I walked into the Rolex dealer that day as well and was sad. They are OUT of stainless Subs or DeepSeas with a 6 month estimate of being in stock.

JLC doesn't make many sports watches I have always liked their Master Compressor dive watches but they aren't making any currently, they seem to go in and out of the catalog over the years.

Tudor negotiations depends on the particular watch. The Pelagos currently I consider a ~15% off watch, the blue version maybe $100 more so $3800 for the black and $3700 for the blue.
Rolex professional models are pretty much universally sold out. Some are extremely hard to get and command twice retail. Very few of them ever make it to the showcase. black Subs and Deep Seas aren't nearly as bad as GMTs, green subs and Daytonas. The two options with OOS Rolex are get on thelist and wait or pay over retail in the secondary market. Quite a few are sold unworn* by brokers like DavidSW. Market price for an unworn no date Sub is about 10k, for a date sub it is about $12k, a Deepsea D-Blue is about $15k and a black Deepsea is about $13k. Unworn Seadweller 43 is going to be about $14k for an unworn one.
Honestly, for a first-time purchaser a 6-month wait for either at an AD would be rather short. One of the frustrations besides price and wait for most of the Rolex professional line is unless you know someone with the model you want you may not get to hold one until you are literally buying it.
* new Rolex are not sold in the secondary market as new, it raises the ire of the Crown so unworn is used instead pretty universally

You could pay them MSRP now, when they say six months, but there is no guarantee even implied. If they knew...they could leverage those futures. 18 months isn’t guaranteed, there’s just simply no option to buy some of them from an AD.
Basically the only thing cool, besides the oyster bracelet (and I’ll never wear a bracelet), about the brand. They’re hot, and for that they’re hot.

I bought my Rolex pre-owned. Plan to do that with any subsequent luxury watch.

Crazy prices from where they were when I was shopping. I got a Tag Link Auto in 2008 and then a Sinn856 UTC in 2013-14 which was used market. The Sub 50thLV and the later redesign of all sport watches made them boom. I can still see the old Sea Dweller on my wrist at Ben Bridge for $5900 or 6200 (can't remember)

I liked the vintage Explorer 1610 that was discussed about a month ago - simple. But I’d wear the hell out of those older subs.
1016?
I have a 114270 that's the same dimensions as the 1016, absolutely love it.
