They're begging for money.. Church doesn't dictate entrance into heaven, and I agree, it's a douche move to call out those that come only on special occasions as a form of tradition. It's a sure fire way to make me not show back up. You can't guilt me, I'm well aware I don't need a preacher to see eternal life.

My moms church. But idk, I don't believe so it doesn't bother me at all. Just like to see mom happy that her kids are with her.

Why did he stop? He did some pretty messed up stuff according to he Bible. Maybe it's because people realized fairytales aren't real.

Speak for yourself. I certainly don't go for the social aspect. I could see the few people I know there outside of church. We could go to dinner instead of church, but we don't.

like i said I'm not here for you lol. I don't have to explain God or rationalize him and what he's done for me to feel better about myself. i'm a living testimony to god's awesome power.

Why is God such a vengeful narcissist? If some guy named Jesus was running around today in the Middle East what would you think about him? This shite is comical that so many people throw rationality out the window when it comes to religion.

Dude. I don't even try anymore. Folks demand proof of everything irl, but will believe mythology from thousands of years ago with no proof whatsoever. You can bring sound, logical argument to negate anything a religious person will tell you, but they'll just say something like "god works in mysterious ways" or "it's not up to us to know" because they are either too lazy or too afraid to confront the facts.

Well, he was a Jew, so he wouldn't be allowed to freely travel in most of the Middle East.

Our preacher did that the week before. He said remember next week is Easter so make room for all the Easter bunnies who hope in on Easter then hop right back out.

Translation: you're smarter than me, and nothing I say will sound good against your sound argument. Since I'm not very smart and don't care about truth, I'm going to keep believing in jebus.

bro i don't nkow how old you are or anything about you. I've been through some real life shite. I should be dead. I should be dead and in hell. But i'm not. I don't have to look to anyone else but myself and what god has done for me to justify god in my life. you're arguing with yourself lol.

They could have a news broadcast right now saying they have proven god does not exist and it would not sway my belief in any shape or form. I've been delivered from some shite in mylife that only the hand of god can do.

I guess God was busy saving your sinning arse and forgot all about the countless innocent children that are suffering from horrible illnesses and diseases on a daily basis. I hope you're happy.

i've been to hell... in africa, central america, eastern europe. didn't see god delivering those people from the daily hell that we take for granted and most of us don't even realize is going on.

why would god save you and not a 14 year old vietnamese girl rented out to grown men for pennies on the dollar?

why would god save you and not a 8 year old african boy who had his whole family murdered, and is not forced to murder to keep from being killed himself in a child army?

why would god save you only to ignore the millions of children going through that shite every damn day?

you show me a case of the hand of god doing work, i'll show you a hundred more where god ain't done shite. you got lucky, it's really that simple.

Maybe God wants us to do something about it.

Instead of wasting our time attacking people who've found meaning in their own lives for no other reason than indulging a cynical sense of superiority.

This petulant argument is similar to one Bart Ehrman made during a debate several years ago. Basically he said why should I believe in a god when so many people in Ethiopia are starving and dying from famine. I was watching the stream with an Ethiopian, and he said “They (Ethiopians) didn't lose their faith." So what business did Bart Ehrman have losing faith when those actually suffering didn't?

no more or less petulant than someone saying god saved them. that was kinda the whole point.

What is petulant about faith? Yes, he did have to make his own decisions and is responsible for his actions, but that doesn't mean God had no role or governance in the situation.
