quote:
50 Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man, 51 who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea, and he himself was waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body. 53 Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid. 54 It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. 55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. 56 Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
Luke chatper 23 verse 50-56
I mean, think about this. And you don't have to answer to me or anyone in this thread but you do have to answer yourself. These are people who were committed to Jesus and believed in him to the point, that they were still committed to a DEAD jesus. Jesus had just died, he had not risen yet they still had faith that he was the son of god. They still prepared spices and linens for Jesus who had not yet risen.
These are people, who were dedicated to Jesus and still practiced the sabboth and HE HAD NOT YET RISEN YET. Here we are with the blessing of knowing what jesus was, what jesus did the next day, and there are people who are so unthankful for what god sacrificed that he they can't even bohter to get up one day a week, hell, one day a YEAR and say thank you.
If a DEAD jesus is worth a sabbath, fresh linens and spices, what is a risen jesus worth?
When I was about 20 my pastor had a scandal in church where he cheated on his wife with a local news anchor and it rubbed me the wrong wah and I stopped going for years. I saw a bunch of hyprcirates, liars and everything else. But over the years I've come to realize that i'm not going to church for them. I'm not going to church to build a new home for someone ro to look good for someone or to be seen or to see, I'm going to church to say thank you.
The ONLY reason we exist is to glorify god (Isiah 43:7). Not to procreate, not to watch sports, not to make money, not even to help others, god doesn't need our help to preform miracles in someone else's life. God put us here ot do one thing, to praise and worship him. So because of that, take your butt to church and do so to the best of your ability.

Couldn't agree with this more

Going to church is probably the least effective way to glorify God, in my humble opinion.

I love my god my way.... he understands....

I did not go to church today.
I'll go next week. I went last week.

I just eventually got so sick of the hypocrisy and the petty arguing that goes on between religions.
You realize hypocrisy is a human error? Not Jesus', nor the religion's. Man is the hypocrite. Most of them are, to be truthful. And you allow modern day atheists who hate God, to sway you into hating the Church. Sad.

That's what you get for going to church. A guilt trip. I don't need a redneck preacher telling me how I should live my life. Me and Christ consciousness are good with each other.

Childhood conditioning and the social factor. It's nothing more than a religious social club.

It's a good start. I agree with you but also disagree. It keeps you centered and focused. Its a sacrifice to do so in this modern age with all the sort of ways we can entertain ourselves. It's quite a counter-cultural thing to do -- to attend church. But glorifying God also requires good works. You must serve Him by serving His children, the poor, needy, disabled, and marginalized.

Oh shut up. It's far easier to not go to church. It is so much easier to stay at home and not thing about all the things that God requires of us, and all the things we do on a daily basis that he disapproves of.

Why is God such a vengeful narcissist? If some guy named Jesus was running around today in the Middle East what would you think about him? This shite is comical that so many people throw rationality out the window when it comes to religion.

when i sit down and think of all the things i've been delivered from in life, all the stupid wreckless shite ive done, all the life or deaths salutations i've been in, when i think about all the miracles that have been preformed in my life for me, i just have to say thank you jesus because i am not worthy.
I rally could give a shite what anyone else thinks or says, i don't have to get my faith from anyone else or look to anyone else for my faith i just have to look at what I should be, where i should be versus where i am.
Despite being unworthy of god's grace, I still have it. That's answome feeling knowing that a god as mighty and powerful as the one we have, has our back, that he has a plan for each and every one of us and all you have to do is have the faith of a mustard seed to be blessed.
I feel like going to church lol.God does not change. man changes. God CANNOT change. God is incapable of changing (Hebrews 6:18). Politics change, people change, cultures change, times change, God does not change. God is the exact same as he was when he created the earth, god was the same when moses parted the red sea, god is the same now, god will be the same 100000 years from now. Your beef are with the people of church, not with GOD, we aren't supposed to put our faith in people anyway we are suppoed to put it in god, that's why i'm not catholic.

When I gave my heart to know wisdom and to see the task which has been done on the earth (even though one should never sleep day or night), 17and I saw every work of God, I concluded that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, "I know," he cannot discover.
Ecclesiastes 8:17
I don't know,but God does, and that's all I need.

if god were really vengeful we would all be dead because none of us deserves God's grace and mercy.
