I tipped my Ruth's Chris valet 20 bucks Friday night. Cheapskate.

People in the south can't drive in the snow.

In all fairness, its mostly because the South gets slush more than it gets snow. 28 degrees and lower is the line which road conditions improve.

80 degrees and 100% humidity at the same time huh? Wow. A bit much hyperbole?

29 is plenty cold enough. the roadway just has to cool down.

it snowed at 3,000 feet Sunday hereabouts but it didn't stick to roads or sidewalks.

we have had ice on the reg the past ten days. decent rain. then below freezing at night. rain is running off the hillsides, onto the roadway. ta da! ice.

we are supposed to get rain/wintry mix/snow most days this week.

its been a mild winter. its been mild for a few years.

I just traded my all wheel drive SUV for a better driving actual car.

I will just be stuck at home if there is a real storm. Hills here, hills everywhere in this region. 4,600 feet, the biggest locally. 3,000 that we go to all the time.
over 5,000 a bit further north in the same county. the kids called it snowy mt. when my daughter was in middle school.

It depends on how it plays out. The low is supposed to be in the upper 20's in Covington Friday night. I guess we will see.

Weather Channel winter weather expert was on just now... basically said they're trying to see how much gulf moisture a low pulls up into the cold air

he says they look at 2 models... 1 says it'll be enough for a good southern snow... another says it'll be much further north

and right now he was leaning to it all staying north

'

28 and above is soft snow. Roadways will be slicker even if frozen.

so the models must really be showing some agreement

Negative. They're all over the place still.

Been watching the models for a few days now. Nashville seems to be trending on the northern edge of snowfall, which more times than not means we get crushed, but the models have given us anything from 10 inches to no precip within 500 miles for this weekend, so who knows?

basically it's all about how much moisture the forecasted low pressure system will bring up from the GoM

Failure to act early by city/state road crews are to blame more so than drivers. It's hard for anyone to drive on a solid sheet of ice, regardless of what part of the country you're from.
