Everyone’s all excited for the holiday weekend and I’m pissed because I have to work until noon Monday. It’s time for me to work for myself

Half a day? How about all day. Plus I worked all day the day before Christmas, Christmas Day, the day after Christmas, and will work New Year's Day also. In fact, I work the next 18 days straight.
But by all means, go ahead and gripe about having to work half day on New Years Eve!

I work for myself and I am working a FULL day on Monday.

The day before New Year's day is not a holiday for me or an employee of mine.

I worked Christmas Eve, but taking vacation on Monday. Use or lose PTO.

ETA: We actually have a big project going on at the moment, but my company forced my hand. I willingly worked Christmas Eve while everyone else took off. They tried to make a stink about NYE, but frick ‘em. They obviously don’t care about deadlines when Christmas is the next day.

I was on the fence on if I was going to work Monday or not, but I scheduled a mid-morning meeting with a new customer for Monday. So I’ll at least be doing a half day

And I guarantee you make a shite ton more money than I do because unless you’re an emergency worker like EMT or cop, you’re probably a plant baw. So don’t complain to me about getting in your OT on holidays when you’re making more money by working on Christmas Day than I do in a few days.

True

Unless you are a retail person or essential services person then no one is working. Unless you're a greedy arse owner or newbie manager. No one else is working these 11 days. Grow the frick up.

While it’s probably a paid holiday for most anyway, there are definitely operating costs associated with being open that employers could save by being closed during this time. Then there’s employee morale to consider as well. Burning good employees out is worse than hiring a terrible applicant in the long run because they tend to begin to resent managers and owners, which leads to losing good employees and only keeping those who can’t get hired anywhere else.

I have to work all day Monday. Tuesday is the holiday I get off in my office.

Although I imagine I will get to possibly leave a couple hours early....unless there is an emergency in the hospital.

We decided yesterday to not work Monday. I guess I'm going to have to find some non waterlogged fireworks.

I didn't say all I said to complain. I said it to show you that working half the day on New Years Eve is nothing. Shoot, even my wife is working all day New Years Eve!

I honestly care less about New Years. I get that day off so that's all that matters. Having Christmas Eve off is more important.
