Why would anyone drop the full $1000 upfront on a phone though? It's not like they charge interest.

That Google ad is for the Pixel 3a, a new "budget" phone.
$399/$479 depending on size
Does that make the ad racist?

Why do I feel we're like a post or two away from a hate crime and some bannings?

Because at the end of the day this is a message board on the internet, with a large proportion of posters that have been born and raised in the southern “culture”. I’ll leave the rest up to your imagination.

I buy them all outright and don’t do the payment plan once they did away with the upgrade every two years. I think I walked out at $1300 with the phone and accessories for my 10 with the highest gig.

Who is the target demographic of $1,000 phones?
This dumbass who was on the job (not with our company) said he got the new Iphone about 3 or 4 months ago and got it on a payment plan.

There's 0 interest unless you have unbelievably bad credit I believe.
They don't need to charge interest really. They're charging the full price of the phone. It used to be subsidized and we could get phones for next to nothing every 2 years. That's not the case anymore so they get the full amount still, just more comes from the consumer.

They will let you buy it. The salesman wont is how I understand it. I was ticked about this too after my last phone purchase so I called Verizon and that's what they told me. I paid it off over the phone.

It isn't me.I've got a Galaxy J-1.

You can buy a 55" HDTV, moderate desktop, and a 27" flat screen monitor, and still pay less than $1000.

Why are people so aggravated about their interest free phone payment plans? There is no cash discount on buying a phone.

The third party salesman at Verizon told me my money wasn't good there unless I gave it to him under his terms. That's really what it was about for me. I could give a frick less if you choose to pay for your phone the other way, I just want the option to pay for it my way. I didnt want the increase in my bill when I could just pay cash and move on.
It's just a personal preference thing, really.
