Obviously the incumbent is the worst. But who among the others is a not awful choice?

I’m sure it won’t matter.

Maybe the judge should be removed?
"I can't wait to get out of this consent decree," said U.S. District Judge Lance Africk, who since 2012 has overseen reforms to the jail, now called the Orleans Justice Center.
"There's nobody who wants to achieve compliance more than the court and the monitors."

Inmate-on-inmate assaults have more than doubled in two years, from 24 reported in 2021 to 53 last year. The jail averaged four fights a day between Jan. 2022 and Sept. 2023, and the monitors said that violence was exploited by deputy-sanctioned "tank bosses" who trade their fellow inmates' protection for payment. They also suggested those surging numbers don't reflect the totality of the violence.

Woodfork has the respect of her peers across the criminal justice system. She also has a long, successful career as a sheriff deputy and NOPD officer. Transparency and putting the right people in the roles is a big focus for her.
Plus, she refuses to call the inmates ‘residents’ like our current sheriff.

Woodfork was endorsed by the ridiculous DA Jason Williams, so I honestly took that as a negative

You sure about that?
Woodfork was endorsed by the OPREC, and those two things definitely do not mix.
DA Jason was a heavy endorser of the incumbent

LA has Sheriffs over cities and not Police Chiefs?

Woodfork is a joke.
One of her big focuses is nepotism and holding grudges as well.
There’s a reason nobody at NOPD outside her little clique wanted her there when she was appointed as interim chief.
