He gets no respect.

"My wife and I agreed that we'd only smoke after sex."
The trouble is, I've got a pack that's 1 month old, she's up to 3 packs a day."

For me it was Jackie Gleason. He just made me laugh. I didn’t grow up in the happiest of homes and that 1 hour on Saturday night of his variety show was a great escape.

I regard him highly, but not #1. Loved his variety show and his role in "The Honeymooners" was/is a TV classic.

I miss the old style variety shows that I grew up watching. Shows like Perry Commo, Andy Williams, Ed Sullivan, Dean Martin, Red Skelton, etc. had great line-ups and a nice variety of entertainers every week.

Jonathon Winters is up there. Some of his clips on Johnny Carson were so funny. Rickles was king of roasts. Eddie Murphy was legendary keeping a live audience laughing. Robin was so good at improv and how he changed voices with such ease.

George Carlin was incredibly witty.

Don Rickles was THE best roaster back in the day. Just look up Roast of Bob Hope.

"Sugar Ray Leonard is here. I'd ask you to speak but, you know the blacks, your lips lock."

And Greg Giraldo was gone way too soon. MFer was brilliant.

My two fav's...

George Carlin... Thoughtful comedian... could make you see the humor in common everyday life things you never gave a second thought about...

Robin Williams... His fly-by-the-seat-of-your-britches comedy has always been very funny to me... when he was in-the-moment and on a roll I would be hurting I was laughing so hard..
