I know someone born at 12:01 AM. That's pretty early in the morning.

My best friend's great-grandmother died in 1993 at the age of 102, so 1891. She lived with him and his family. She was nice, still had a sharp mind to the end, and had a lot of neat stories. She was married twice - her first husband was killed in World War I.

What’s crazy is we’re not many degrees of separation from what we think of as the very distant past. I knew my great grandma who was born in 1902. When she was a kid, she would have known plenty people born in the early 1800s. Her parents probably knew people born in the 1700s.

That’s crazy to me. She died 75 years after her husband.

What chaps my arse is since it’s 2025, young adults are referring to people as being born in the 1900’s. Wtf!?

Technically correct but frick these punks!

My great grandfather was born in 1887 and lived to be over 90. I only met him a few times. My great grandmother on the other side of the family was born in 1898. She lived with us for a while so she's the oldest person I knew well.

As far as non family members, my father's first law partner was born in 1892. He and his wife didn't have any grandchildren of their own so they doted on my siblings and me.

My paternal grandmother was born in the 1800s, she died in the mid 70s, when I was 10 (ish), even though she lived less than a football field away, I don't really remember her.

Great aunt 1885, grandmother 1887, sisters who lived together most of my early childhood. Listened to them and their younger brothers as much as I could

Heard stories of them traveling by wagon, witnessing cattle drives with Indians in native garb helping with the drive.

They knew several old Confederate vets including their grandfather. Talked about stories they’d heard about Sherman burning their grandparents home in Georgia.

That generation heard the first radio, television. They saw the first airplane flying over their community. Flush toilets. The first automobile. Amazing stuff they witnessed and I was most fortunate to hear their stories.

I’m 58 , my grandparents were both born in the 1880’s I remember staying there as a kid. They never owned an air conditioner or a television. Big box fan in the window, really small wooden house with a tin roof.

I had a grandfather who was too young for WW1 and too old for WW2.

Shared a bedroom with my great grandmother as a kid. She was born in 1908, had a single mastectomy (which was a weird thing to see as a 7 year old), and talked about sneaking off to play with the negro kids.

She pretty much raised me. Some of my earliest memories are going to my grandma's house, where she lived at the time, and she always offered me a saf•t•pop as soon as I walked in her room. Also, she would take me to her son's (he died when I was few months old) grave and then sit at the pond in the cemetery and feed the ducks bread.

My grandfather was born in 1902, and his older brothers were born in1900, and 1895ish. I was born in ‘76 and knew them all pretty well especially grandfather. My grandfathers grandfather was alive until he was about 12 years old. He was an Irish immigrant, or son of Irish immigrants, who fought for the confederacy and hated northerners.

My great grandfather lived from 1893-1986 or 103 years. I was 23 when he died. Every year we had a family reunion on his birthday. My mom always made me go. She would say you have to go its probably Papa's last birthday. I went to his last birthday party about 20 times
