Some people don't have family close enough. Not everyone lives in their parents' basement.

I've been off since the 14th. Today is my first day back to work.

Well mine wasn't a vacation. I had minor surgery and had to take off that time to recover from it. So I'm kinda nervous about my first day back at work. Luckily I don't work at the bedside anymore so can just take it easy and stay at my desk all day today.

Office closed today.

Of course this comes from someone who lives in New Orleans. Probably in the same shitty neighborhood you grew up in, like harvey or gretna, maybe even the incredibly diverse area of the irish channel. Meanwhile, most of Americas working class tend to do better for themselves and leave shitholes like that. Not to mention if family is relatively close by, they prefer to deal with their own children and not put them off of someone else.

Office is closed today, going in tomorrow and Thursday but will be the only one in. I burned all my vacation days through the year and then the rest on wedding in the Dominican.
