Bold take coming from the guy who said I was "owned" and is now doing anything he can to not talk about the data I posted to back myself up.

But it won't stop you from repeating yourself a million times.
Yep, repeating myself to try and get you to comment on the data I posted that proved you wrong, but you won't, so you're just crawfishing away, digging the hole deeper and deeper.

Cue up another reply that slinks away from the main point. Go!!!

Nah I'm good. You getting frustrated at no one bowing down to your supreme intellect is hilarious.

Don't bother. Copy/paste is about as deep as his knowledge goes.

I've tried spanking my child, and she just laughs it off every single time

My MIL says this was my wife growing up. We raise my niece and this is exactly her. She’s finally growing out of it but she went through the door slamming, “that didn’t hurt”, foot stomping around the house phase. Spanking didn’t change a thing but taking away toys, iPad, time outside, etc did.

That being said I got beat like a wet rug growing up. Belt, hanger, whatever mom had within arms reach was fair game.

Should I post the link in with the quotes, so we can get the discussion back on track, or do you want to continue trolling and taking shots(which is what you do when you're defeated) and doing anything you possibly can to stay off topic still?

You should start with being able to read and understand a study.

This is all you need to know; Sirach Chapter 30

quote:

THE TRAINING OF CHILDREN*
1
Whoever loves a son will chastise him often,
that he may be his joy when he grows up.a
2
Whoever disciplines a son will benefit from him,
and boast of him among acquaintances.
3
Whoever educates a son will make his enemy jealous,
and rejoice in him among his friends.
4
At the father’s death, he will seem not dead,
for he leaves after him one like himself,
5
Whom he looked upon through life with joy,
and in death, without regret.
6
Against his enemies he has left an avenger,
and one to repay his friends with kindness.
7
Whoever spoils a son will have wounds to bandage,
and will suffer heartache at every cry.
8
An untamed horse turns out stubborn;
and a son left to himself grows up unruly.
9
Pamper a child and he will be a terror for you,
indulge him, and he will bring you grief.
10
Do not laugh with him lest you share sorrow with him,
and in the end you will gnash your teeth.
11
Do not give him his own way in his youth,
and do not ignore his follies.
12
Bow down his head in his youth,
beat his sides while he is still young,
Lest he become stubborn and disobey you,
and leave you disconsolate.b
13
Discipline your son and make heavy his yoke,
lest you be offended by his shamelessness.

* [30:1–13] Sound discipline (which would include 'spankings') and careful education of children, correct self-indulgence and stubbornness, prevent remorse and humiliation, and bring to parents lasting joy and delight, prestige among friends, jealousy of enemies, perpetuation and vindication of themselves through their offspring (vv. 1–6). Lack of discipline and overindulgence of children bring sorrow and disappointment, terror and grief (vv. 7–13).

No spankings should be given to a child, if the parent is in a fit of anger. The punishment must wait until the parent is in control of themselves. The parent needs to be in control of themselves always when disciplining the child because the child must be disciplined with love, including spankings with love.

How can one spank and love? Firm discipline (incl spankings) is required or the child WILL become stubborn and WILL disobey you. This is not optional. It WILL be the result of a lack of spanking when the spanking is what is needed.
There is an increase in stubbornness, selfishness, and resistance to authority (esp. parents authority). This is due to a lack of proper discipline which includes spankings. Most kids behavior only responds to punishment in which they feel. If they don't feel it, then it don't matter to most kids.

Was also borderline abused, literally.
I have n kids yet but have made it damn clear to a few close people that I don’t think I will ever be able to lay a hand on my child because of it.
I believe my father has the same feelings as he got so upset when I flinched when he got mad at me one time, because my mother would back hand or open hand smack the ever living shite out me for “back talking”.
I’m not sure any kid could ever say anything bad enough to me for me to smack them in the face.

I agree. That just goes way beyond discipline and into an abusive a-hole parent.

You’re mixing your metaphors. The chicken is choked, it is the monkey that is spanked.

Here is a handy reference site the next time your in need of another euphemism for flogging the dragon.
