What a dumb game. It was fun when i was 8, then i learned chess.

Most of the Negro truck drivers (at a place I worked) used to play checkers but had a few rules that made it FAR more complex. One would concede (accompanied by much hooting and trash talking... you know how those folks are) with large amount of the board left... it was fun to watch.

Any of you guys played the card game, Set back?

My dad was in the Navy and he played a lot of card games and this is one I remember us playing as a kid and it was fun as hell. I have yet meet anyone else that knows how to play it. Maybe some of you guys have.

is Setback also called Pitch? If so, I've played it.

Screw Your Neighbor is a fun card game, too.

If anyone who played that and won.... is that feeling, at that moment, better than winning a $10 million lottery?

Do you guys down South play a lot of card games? Up North here, in the Midwest, we play a lot of euchre, pitch, pinochle, and cribbage. Lot of cards played while out in the shack ice fishing. I've been to a few pinochle tournaments at the VFW and there seems to always be a euchre tournament somewhere.

Checkers are a great game. You know you have to take your jumps right?

Chess is a good game too but anyone that disparages checkers have never played a good player.

I like spades and Rook and dominoes.

Most people surround their flag with bombs. I stopped doing that and placed them somewhere to waste the opponent's time. Worked pretty well.

I love, love, LOVE me some Rook. I’ll play Spades too, since it seems that is what most people prefer, but I don’t like it nearly as much since you are more dependent on what cards you are dealt. In Rook, with the ability to bid either high or low, a good player can try to do something with almost any hand.

If you like Rook you would like pinochle, euchre, or pitch.

We play this all the time. My wife's family has been playing it forever. We've been teaching our friends too so we can play at the house more.
