I did in Interlaken, Switzerland many years ago. Absolutely incredible experience. I didn’t get an itch for it that means I would go hunting for places to jump, but if I’m somewhere beautiful and it’s available, I’d do it again.

So lucky for you but shite for the people on the plane. If it crashed on landing, it wouldn't have had anyone but the pilot on board. Selfish take.
Well 16/20 were jumpers so there would have been 4 on when landing. But they were all minor injuries because the plane didn’t have far to fall immediately after take off. If it had been during landing I would have died mowing my yard while listening to the Astros game, so I wouldn’t have minded going out like that.

In 1985 I had to respond to the scene of where a Golden Knight had a total chute failure at Yuma Proving Grounds...
Before that I was already unwilling to try it...... after that I was adamant I'd NEVER try it without a real threat like crashing.

I don't like driving over bridges.
Not a very brave person. I was scared of amusement park rides.

73 static line jumps.
All business, no fun.

it's static line,
But doing it that way isn't it like 10 jumps then you can go out solo and just regular skydive?
IIRC they told me that after five static line but solo jumps, you could start freefall solo jumps. Maybe today ten is the norm, IDK.

IDK either. I knew it was a seemingly low number.

Did it once in some podunk town in LA when I was in college probably 20 years ago. Ton of fun. I actually was more worried about going up into the air than I was jumping out of the plane because of how run down the plane was.

I don't know what it is now, but 25 years ago I think you could start with statics or go straight to free fall with 2 instructors diving with you basically hanging on to you.

quote:Eh. I only ever went tandem (twice), so it might be a lot more fun if you can get trained to do it on your own.
It it a one and done bucket list thing or something you want to do more of once you do it?
But my experience was it wasn't exhilirating at all. It felt just like having a massive fan blown in your face. There is no tangible sense AT ALL of freefalling (and largely that's because you aren't, at least not for the first part). And you are so high, that all proportion is lost.
Much "scarier" (i.e. fun) is bungee jumping. The ground is close and you are freefalling!
