I'm a 80's child and huge John Hughes fan. I get it fairly often but my wife gets told a more from other chicks, obviously more recognizable to them.

Yeah, it's pretty safe to assume that Michael Schoeffling (Jake Ryan) was every teenage girl's - & probably many moms' - dream in the mid-80s.
... Interesting side note about him: After he made a couple of hit movies, he quit showbiz, moved to PA, started a family, & has been making custom furniture all this time. Good on him.
