Grew up with a big pasture behind me with 4 strand barbed wire. Across the pasture was woods and in the patch of woods was a big live oak tree. I musta been around 8 to 11 when me and a friend snuck down a ditch in the field to the woods we had a cane knife and chopped down some post oak and willow and used them as logs for the base of our tree house in the branches of the massive oak. We had one platform kinda big like 6x8 or so and several smaller higher up in the branches for sitting and pretend look out perches. One year we covered the branches of the main platform with moss and pitched a pup tent on it. We spent many a night camped out in those woods and many a fond child hood memory. The old oak still stands but sadly its in a subdivision now the magical lil patch of woods is gone.

My friends and I built one in the woods around our neighborhood that was legit. It was built in a live oak.
The original treehouse was two pallets and had walls and a hinged roof. There was also a trap door. we built a bench seat that was hinged and kept stuff on the inside, but there was also a false bottom so we could store nudie mags.
We eventually expanded it and built another room which had a second story.
The best part was the entry. You had to climb a tree across the bayou and take a rope bridge across to get to the tree house. I never will forget that thing.
We used for a few years then some prick developer came through and cleared the land to build a new subdivision. I never even got to get my High Society magazines out from under the false floor.

In the yard of my house no. Just lumber we would scavenge ( I do remember a door or two) and piece together but at one time I had one big enough to hold like 6-8 kids. Thing was huge.
But the hood had a "forest" where at one time everyone had put out resources together to build one with walls and actually covering. It lasted a summer, which felt like a lifetime.
Nobody took pictures of shite in my day. Are you kidding?

Had several different treenhouses we built when we were kids. Even had one underground fort we built. I still have a big round scar on my side from when I fell out of the tree house and landed on a sapling we had cut down.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s when kids lived outside so had plenty of time to build things like that. Those were some great times.

I had a legit double decker with a trap door and two ladders that my uncle built. It was freestanding NEXT to the tree though. We’d basically come and go amongst the house and the tree.

My elementary school buddies and I improve on the platform treehouse my dad had built. We had electricity and a bbq pit. The drunk next door complained it was an eyesore.

My dad built my brother and I a treehouse when we were kids. Could fit 3-4 kids in there. Closed in room with a window. Climbed up slats nailed to the tree to get to it. We had a bucket on a rope out the window we used to pull items up to us in it.
Painted it red for us. It was built in a large oak tree so it was terrifying to go into during stinging caterpillar season.

Our dad made a great one. Two tiers, cargo ladder on one side, varied-height stumps on another. Get down via those or the zip line. Also had a rope bridge to a platform on another tree.
Only knock was that you couldn't inhibit anyone from coming up unless by pelting them with pinecones. Still, it was awesome, and he recently added a new section (everything gets upgraded for grandkids).

i built this behind out house now in "no man's land". made mostly out of pallets. the roof is a camo tarp from amazon. we added a pulley and a soda crate to lift thing up from the ground. i was going to do more to it but we are building a house and will be moving this summer. i do have a 100' zip line in the shed i have not told them about yet that i will install eventually.

We had a plain jane tree house in a tree that hung out over Bayou Terrbonne south of Houma. It was not much but you could fish out of it. Made from all left over lumber from other projects. single deck with a partial roof. 2 x 4 rungs nailed to the trunk to get you up there.
If anyone had your dad build you a tree house , you are a punk.
Neighbors dad built them a big arse tree house with walls and shite. No body hung out in it. We all liked the ones the kids made. Just something about chilling out in something you built yourself.
