Who covers the tip?

Sitting at same hooters for 2nd day in a row because its on my way home from a convention. Yea im creepy.
So I'm sitting next to a Group of 5 firemen. Someone covered their tab. Then they begin to question one another who tips. Should they? But what if secret buyer already did?

100% they should tip regardless if the buyer tipped or not.
Also no I don't think it's rude for them to then order something to go on their own dime. It's just patronizing the business more.

This happens all the time at work. A lot of times the person picking up the tab will tip. It isn't impolite to ask if it was taken care of. Now if you are sitting with the same girls and plan on seeing them more, over tip. Don't be the guy that leaves a phone number with a $2 tip. Me personally, everybody leaves $5 and you guys still came out ahead
