I think they have pretty much proven that Egyptians built the pyramids from hieroglyphic “graffiti” in the relief chambers above the kings chamber that was inaccessible until early explorers basically blasted their way into them.
That said, the lower passage below ground level could be much older and pre date the pyramids themselves. Also, there is speculation the graffiti was hoaxed to support conventional thinking as to the Pyramid construction date.
I personally believe the Sphinx and Sphinx Temple are older. Also, it is odd the the Pyramids and Sphinx Temple have no hieroglyphs - which are basically all over other contemporary constructions in Egypt.
