You want a smartphone, you dont have to have one, they are handy and make things simpler but are not a necessity.
I love an old fold out street map.
Try finding one nowadays

Yep, this beats the trailer thread, and we have now take a whole different turn. If gas is 1.00 how low is natural gas?

As God intended.

I'm serious, try to find a road map nowadays.
Damn near impossible. I've looked. Had some days where I'd have to go without data till next paycheck so I could have gas to work.
There are no more road maps in gas stations.

They existed before the measles vaccine too. Just a lot of them only existed for a few weeks and then died.

Keep telling yourself whatever you wish, gotta have that new model whatever or life just comes to a stop because so and so has one.
If you want one and have the cash cool but lets not pretend that 99.9% of them are used for little more than electronic toys and status symbols.
FYI most humans on earth do not have a smartphone, the fact that so many Americans believe they "require" one is simple marketing genius and an excellent example of herd mentality.
By the way that was perhaps the most silly analogy I have read here and that says a lot.

Yeah everyone prefers the hi tech versions. Seriously some people can't drive or find an unfamiliar place without google maps voice technology.
I'm a map/geography fiend

I have a $100 Verizon gophone. The only apps I have are WAFB weather and Google maps. Why?
Because I need both for work.
An Alcatel analog will not cut it.

Same here.
I love a map.
Problem is, you can't find them.
Posted on 5/12/18 at 10:49 pm to magildachunks
There are still some atlases out there.
Posted on 5/12/18 at 10:51 pm to RogerTheShrubber
Nephew turns 5 tomorrow.
Part of his gift from me is a giant atlas of the US.
Hopefully he loves looking at it like I did growing up.

I haven't paid for gas since 2006. I really don't care.

I've had the same phone for over 2 years and I replaces an iPhone 3g with this one.

First, I'm not sure thats true. All of the developed world does so it's atleast close, but I can't tell you for sure either way. Second, that's pretty irrelevant to the overall point. The rest of the world doesn't live in a specialized economy. For a lot of professions of you aren't easily accessible you aren't hireable. Add the fact that many need navigation, ability to be online at all times, etc, etc. Hell, you'll get fired from McDonald's if they can't get in touch with you.
I'm not saying you need a smartphone to be able to post on your Instagram all day, but it's pretty damn close to being a necessity to function in the economy.

I literally could not do my job without a smartphone.
