There is a weird phenomenon on this site where proud, overt, obvious racists, try to parse the definition of racist so as to avoid the label.

To be fair, there is a lot of shite out there that automatically gets labeled by society as "racist" even though it clearly isn't.
For example, saying black people like watermelon. That's not racism at all. What is insulting or bad about liking watermelon? Nothing. It's just like saying white people like country music. Neither of those are examples of racism. They're stereotypes, which are generally rooted in some version of the truth.
We'd be a lot better off if we all focused on truly derogatory and vindictive discourse.
BTW, yes, I think this kid's prom sign is racist.

Actually there's a history behind the watermelon thing that's pretty derogatory. It may not seem like a big deal now because we're so far removed from the root of it, but the watermelon thing is much more than just a stereotype. Educate yourself a little more.
