Germans are absolutely not forgotten. Every third white person you meet swears they are German. The biggest concentration of white people claim they are German, more so than Irish or English or anything else.

You’re welcome! It’s something I encourage everybody to do. When I was about 18 I was at the dentist and the lady asks if I know so and so with the same last name. Well I didn’t but the idea there was other people in the same area with the same name blew my mind. That night I got an ancestry account and stayed up all night reading shite and tracing it. Super fun.

As it turns out my third cousins or whatever that I never knew existed have made quite the name for themselves in a small town about 40 minutes away.

The most commonly reported ancestries of non-Hispanic White Americans include German (13%), Irish (12%), English (9%), Italian (6%), French (4%), Polish (3%), Scottish (3%), Scotch-Irish (2%), and Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, and Russian, each (1%) respectively.

All it took was a simple google search. Why so many retards on this site.

I think most Americans are related to each other, at least the ones with colonial ancestry. I think we are all related to most of the presidents too, at least like 7th cousins or whatever.

Supposedly I’m descended from ponce de Leon and king Henry III and Edward III

As I posted before ITT, even in Alabama, a state that got basically no immigration and probably one of the most British places on earth, the percentage of people claiming German and English is the same. It’s ridiculous.

If you want to trace your ancestry for free, you can use Family Search. The LDS owns it, and gives it away. They also own Acestry.com which is a pay ancestry site.

Funny, my dad said we came from alsace; we are acadians and French-speaking Germans.

When I looked up my grandfather's name it gave me this...

quote:

Welsh, German, Portuguese, French (mainly Alsace and Lorraine)

Im still going with the op is wrong, sorry op.

Family search has been really cool. I am overwhelmingly Scotch-Irish with some English thrown in, but I do have some German as a 6xgreat grandfather (Sweickert) emigrated from Germany and fought in the Revolutionary War lol

But still, overwhelmingly British Isles. But I married a Central Texas German/Czech girl, so our kids are as blonde and blue eyed as you can get.

I have little doubt I'm mostly English and a Frenchman thrown in for the mix. Those DNA thingies kinda spook me a bit. I know of horror tales about newly discovered relatives.

I'm so white, I'm almost translucent.

We have traced our family in Louisiana back to two German brothers who settled in central LA and married French wives.

I only know one person that claims to be German. And his last name is unmistakably German.

I’m pretty much 100% English.

Why would anyone claim to be German? I lived in Germany. Germans are gross. They smell very bad.

I have a very German last name, and after doing some ancestry.com I've found that there are a lot of Hungarians with the same name.

Then what do you have to say about the picture I posted in post 1?

The mean British ancestry is 3x higher than German…

Extremely frowned upon... Until the market crashed.

Then those rich germans suddenly found poor french women acceptable.

AncestryDNA had their 2023 ethnicity update this week and they reduced my Germanic Europe from 11% to 2% and Sweden & Denmark from 0% to 6%.

This happens just about every update with Germanic going back up and Sweden & Denmark disappearing and so on and so forth....

But they did add a cool little tidbit about Sweden & Denmark with this update, which you can read by clicking the link if you have Sweden & Denmark in your results: the link you can click states: "Surprised about your Sweden & Denmark result?"

My updated results:

What they've now added about Sweden & Denmark (some of the below is cut off from what that full link says about this). But my results look pretty typical of what they're trying to say here.

The only reason that I do have reason to believe my German should be (and really is) higher is because my mom is from Ohio.... most midwesterners have a lot more German than the average southerner.

On 23andMe my mom is near 50% French & German, and has around 25% Germanic on the new Ancestry update.... 2% showing now is laughable on my Ancestry update.

The English are the descendants of German settlers (and invaders). “Anglo-Saxon” comes the settlers from Anglia and Saxony in Germany. The English language is a branch of the Germanic family. Before the shooting started, Hitler called the English “Brudder Volk”… Brother Peoples.
