This just question.. wouldn't you the electrical harness needs to be replaced also?

Possibly. Depends how deep the water was. Doubtful much beyond the fuseblock got submerged.

The wiring harness in a 69 Camaro is about the same as the wiring for one door on a modern car. Not a big deal.

Complete 69 Camaro wiring harness. Around $700.

Someone is literally going to steal that Camaro. I’d have never let the insurance take it.

Plenty of people know about copart, so that car isn't going to sell for a few grand.

The Camaro shows a current bid over $17k.

1961 Vette currently over $23k

I don’t know shite about old cars but would assume you’re buying those for the style and model….rehabbing flood damage would be no different than if you saw an old one sitting in somebody’s barn and had to fix it up. Probably better as it looks like that Camero was in good shape.

I’d jump all over that MF.

Thanks for clarifying-I was considering these to be interchangeable. But my point is still the same; if I have other hurricane related losses or other financial hardship, I’m going to have them cut the check.

Yea Copart has done a good job of marketing to car guys on Youtube to push their name over the past 5 years and channels like Goonzquad have built whole careers rebuilding wrecks they buy from Copart.

That car will be a cakewalk for someone to restore as long as it's not full of bondo from a previous cheap resto.

Up north here you are looking at rust repair which is a bitch.

Dumb as hell.. I've seen dumber though. I know an idiot that traded a straight cherry 1968 302 RS for a brand new 305 Camaro to a Chevy dealer back in 1982.

I don't get why the guy wouldn't take a settlement and keep the car.

An old car like that a flood isn't the end of the world. It's not full of electronics.
Good, old-school tech.

I know someone with an early 80's Ford pickup that got totally submerged in the 2016 flood.

We drained all the fluids, flushed things out good, new plugs and filters, cranked right up. Pulled the seats and steam-cleaned everything as much as possible.
It's reliable, and smells better now than it did before the flood

Probably got married since he restored it and the wife wants the money to buy new carpet.

I wonder if that car isn't a clone? You already know how easy it is to rebadge and restamp those early cars. I would definitely have to see some documentation before I would bid on it.

If it was a fema flood car (like 2016 or Katrina) the title will be flagged in the Louisiana DMV so it won't be street legal. If your 100% honest anyway.
