That gives me nightmares because I live out in the country and have a bad habit of doing that. Granted, I have a screened in patio, but it's still a bad habit I need to get out of.

My friend had the same thing happen in Central. Kicked his boots off by the front door, put them back on and felt something in it. Stuck his hand in a baby copperhead bit him on the finger. It cost him $100k in hospital bills and fricked him up for 2 weeks.

I thought you were trying to find Jody when I first read the title.

If I leave shoes outside I always step on top of them before putting them on.

The wife got home yesterday afternoon and announced she saw a snake in the front garden bed. I checked it out and sure enough there was a baby diamond back water snake nestled in a corner of the bed.

Now, this is in the middle on N.O. in Mid-City with absolutely no open water anywhere nearby---not even a damn ditch to be found. So, I gathered it up and took it over to City Park to put it in an out of the way place near one of the lagoons. It will either survive or become food for one of the ducks or egrets that inhabit the waterways.

Scorpions love to hide in shoes. In countries where scorpions are abundant, people prop their shoes upright against a wall.

I put my shoe on one time and there was a toad in it. Didn't even feel it for a few seconds. Scared the shite out of me. Check my shoes everytime now. Shed shoes I actually blow them out with the air compressor for extra security.

looks like a copperhead, still poisonous

here is a link that shows a juvenile cottonmouth, based on the photo I would say it is a cottonmouth.

First rule at the camp before hunting, always shake your boots out before putting them on.

My son had a ball game early on a Saturday a couple hours away. We were a little late leaving and didnt know if he was on turf or dirt so I told him to go grab his spikes and turf shoes. The spikes were outside.

Had been on the road about 20 minutes when a toad jumped up on top of side of my ankle area. I almost shite myself when I reached down and felt that wet nasty thing. If it had been a cottonmouth, yall woulda read about the wreck.

Rookie mistake. Never do that south of I-40 unless it’s on a balcony.

We have had a 6’ gator chilling in the pool once. The fence doesn’t stop them. But they are easy to spot.

Looks like black stripes near head, making me lean cottonmouth. Young coloring will be less dark than adults. But copperheads and cottonmouths are closely related.

Where in Baton Rouge does he live? I live in a very urban part and we see snakes daily.

Immature cottonmouth.

Not a snake story but had a pair of rubber boots in my truck bed for about 2 weeks. Stuck my foot in one and something soft and moving made me jerk that boot off. 2 baby mice!
