I am 56. Target is 65, so 9 more years. 62 is a possibility provided there are no market crashes between now and then.

When I retire, I intend to travel, play golf, and read every great book in the canon.

I feel as though I'm very close to Retirement from work-life because I play the Lotto very regularly and have plans to live in Switzerland when I win.

I retired the end of June 2020 at 66. Travel mostly to see my only grandchildren (namesake toddler boys) 4 hours away.

Woke up today thinking it was Monday. Love it

I realize ur joking, but sadly, many people actually think this way… Most of them will be seriously depressed when it never happens and they work til they die.. or maybe if theyre lucky they will drop dead earleir and never know what hit them.. Otherwise they are in for a long lifetime of misery .

Ive got to have 3 years but 6 would put me in the best position. I’m currently 50 and I’m looking forward to it.

I am retiring next year at 63. Should have enough money but I’m scared to death to make that leap.

I retired at age 56, I'm now 79. Have good health, enjoying life. I have chronic sinus problems but otherwise enjoying life.
My mom lived to age 94, Dad 81. Sure I think about the end occasionally but I don't worry about it.

Curious what level of yearly income most of the people that retired in their 50’s in this thread planned on or whether money has ever been an issue?

I feel like I’m in good shape to be done mid 50’s but get nervous about the money.

56 now... I can make maybe 2 more years... I will hopefully have 20 years to do what I want. Then chill with the Mrs until our time comes.

Damn it sounds depressing when I look at it that way. I am still retiring in 2 years though... Screw work!

I could retire; and I'm about the age.
But the major things that I consider doing in retirement are harder than my job and I don't think I'd enjoy them as much. So, I'm staying put for now.

This is me too. You do have to worry a bit about the stock market and what it's doing, assuming you have money in the market.

I think I could retire now if I really wanted to, but I'm going to reassess at 60, which is 3 more years. If I feel I can retire then, I will.

I had sufficient savings to retire comfortably, in 98. I did, then 9/11 happened. I spent a few hours wondering if I would be forced to go back to work. Fortunately, I didn't withdraw any and it, built back up before I needed it.
If you home is paid for and no debts, It doesn't take much to live in comfort.
