I wasn't around for Elvis or the Beatles, but he was definitely the most famous in my lifetime.

it would be michael jackson, but diddling boys probably erased a lot of his popularity... the worst jordan ever did was go on a secret suspension for gambling

michael jordan is the greatest black man that ever lived.

It's without question Jackson. Worldwide, he's the most influential musician of all time, even over the Beatles. I was on the plains of Mongolia when he died, and even I heard of it within the hour of when his death was announced.

Jackson, then Jordan in a far second. Jordan never had the level of fame Jackson did. Also, Michael could never have a normal life due to his popularity. Jordan never had to go out in costume in fear a group of people would rip his body to shreds. I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan and was hit hard when he died.

Jackson... If you're talking about the pedofile community. Otherwise Jordan.

Jordan was more influential though
Please make a rational argument. Ask anyone in any other country but the US and it should be an instant answer of Jackson.

Globally it's Jackson and I don't think it's close
and even in the united states michael jackson is probably bigger than jordan.

In your globe maybe, not the rest of the world. There are soccer players with much more name recognition than Jordan, who plays a game not nearly as popular globally as soccer.
Yeah, I'd say that Beckham is more famous and beloved than Jordan, and even he pails in comparison to the global influence of Jackson.

Yes. My grandparents and parents owned Thriller, everyone I knew did. Lots of people don't care about basketball.

Plus I don't think half the globe has seen a Michael Jordan game. I'd venture to say that at least 90% have heard a Michael Jackson song, and multiple times at that.

I don't think it was THAT BAD for Jackson...

I am a HUGE Jackson fan myself... But some of what you said is ridiculous.... Jackson brought a lot of FAME on himself.. Cause he wanted it.... Think about it...

Is correct. There are kids in the slums of India trying to moon walk. They aren't playing basketball.

you do'nt agree, go watch the big concert Michael had in London in 2003 i think. Usher and Chris Rock and Timberlake where in it when they were young.
They show the crowd constantly. Grown men and women, i'm not talking about teenagers, grown arse men and women acting like 14 year old girls at a Bieber concert. That's not normal. The guy was worshiped by everyone for his entire life. He is and always will be the greatest entertainer ever.
It was Sept 7 and Sept 10th, 2011 @ Madison Square Garden. It was the 30th Anniversary Concert. I know because I went to both.
And it was Chris Tucker...not Chris Rock. Shaq went...Reggie Miller was there. It's on YouTube...pretty bad ads show. Check out Luther, 98 Degrees and Usher doing Man in the Mirror.

I bet those kids you're talking about try to emulate Kobe more than Michael these days.

I think it was pretty bad for him, imo. I watched a program on him a good while back, and on it he said he wanted to go to the mall. He spent an hour with makeup people to form the prefect disguise. He could never go see a movie like a normal person, or go to the store. I have seen a good bit of celebrities in NOLA, and they walk around like everyday people. I think if Jackson would try that, it'd be a riot.
True, he did want fame, every celebrity who gets in the business wants that. But I could say that he just wanted to make music and didn't really care about the fame, when he was put in the business as a small child. He did have a talent for songwriting and entertaining the masses, but his the level of craziness people had for him was unreal.
