Which do you use when you are typing/writing a phone number: Dashes or Dots?

Dots

Just seems more neat.

Dashes if writing. Dots most of the time if typing.

Dashes. Dots are not correct. If phone books were still around you would see that.

Dashes create subtraction formulas on the computer in a lot of things...

I used to use neither like 2256571344 but now I've evolved to the more nuanced approach of using dashes incorrectly like 2-256571-3-44

if an international customer, I send them:
001-xxx-yyy-zzzz

If North America:
(xxx) yyy-zzzz

if just jotting it down, I think I usually just leave spaces:
xxx yyy zzzz

In the US we use dashes but Europe uses dots. Therefore the dots always looked more exotic/sophisticated to me.

I'm a true hipster and use pipes to separate my numbers:

123|456|7890

its a pain in the arse. like someone else said. handwriting dashes, typing dots. its sucks when you type 504-867-5309 and then you look up and see (5672)

I'm just too lazy to hit the shift or function key to get to the dash when the . Is only the basic layout.
