Which do you use when you are typing/writing a phone number: Dashes or Dots?

Dots
Just seems more neat.

Dashes if writing. Dots most of the time if typing.

Dashes. Dots are not correct. If phone books were still around you would see that.

Only dbag hipsters who think it looks original or neat use dots.

Dashes create subtraction formulas on the computer in a lot of things...

People that dont use anything and just go 1234567890 should face jail time.

I used to use neither like 2256571344 but now I've evolved to the more nuanced approach of using dashes incorrectly like 2-256571-3-44

if an international customer, I send them:
001-xxx-yyy-zzzz
If North America:
(xxx) yyy-zzzz
if just jotting it down, I think I usually just leave spaces:
xxx yyy zzzz

Who uses dots? Never seen that before.

In the US we use dashes but Europe uses dots. Therefore the dots always looked more exotic/sophisticated to me.
I'm a true hipster and use pipes to separate my numbers:
123|456|7890

Parentheses for area code and a dash
Posted on 5/30/19 at 3:53 pm to Tarik One
Neither. Just write the whole number down. That’s how the computer reads it

This is a lame excuse to use dots.

I'm just too lazy to hit the shift or function key to get to the dash when the . Is only the basic layout.
