Yeah, and Jefferson Parish has 440,000 residents. That doesn't add up. Gretna, Westwego, Kenner, Grand Isle, and a few other places add up to 300,000 people? It's far more plausible to conclude that whoever came up with that 140,000 number defined Metairie incorrectly.

Naperville IL
Which itself is a very nice place. But no real skyline unless you count the suburban mid rises and hotels by the interstate.

Shreveport:
187,000 people and shrinking by the day.

Shreveport is now the 4th largest metro in the state. Lafayette metro passed it up.

Jacksonville city is 900,000
The city of Jacksonville is the entire county of Duval. It's the biggest city by geographic boundary in the US. The actual city itself isn't but about 200k

Baton Rouge is okay…it’s saved by the riverfront and the capitol complex.
Shreveport/Bossier skyline trumps BR by an East Texas mile.

Houston's Medical Center is more impressive than a lot of mid sized cities

This is what put Shreveport over the edge.
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Mobile can’t touch this!!

If you knew nothing of Shreveport save for that photo, it looks quite picturesque

It looks like a tiny version of the ugly casino across the river.

Moreno Valley, CA. Pop 208,000. There's no skyline this is the best I could do
We have a fine collection of several 3 story hotels located in our downtown area so please don't disrespect our city like that.

I didn't realize Moreno Valley had that many people. Impressive considering Temecula/Murrieta/Menifee is just slightly south with 300k between all of them.

Feeling math-y and research-y today...
Jefferson Parish:
EAST BANK:
Metairie 143,507
Kenner 66,448
Jefferson 11,193
Harahan 9,116
Elmwood 5,649
River Ridge 13,591
total east bank:249,504
WEST BANK:
Westwego 8,568
Avondale 4,582
Waggaman 9,835
Bridge City 7,219
Marrero 32,382
Harvey 22,236
Gretna 17,814
Terrytown 25,278
Timberlane 10,364
Woodmere 11,238
Estelle 17,952
Jean Lafitte 1,809
Barataria 1,057
Lafitte 1,014
Grand Isle 1,005
total west bank: 172,353
Tot. Jeff Parish:421,857
There's quite a few populated areas NOT in the CDPs listed above -- Nine Mile Point, the area between Waggaman and St. Charles Parish line, etc. Those would account for the 20,000 or so difference between 421,857 and 440,781.

I love Lubbock. If it wasn't in the middle of nowhere, I'd consider living there.

You realize that they just go across the river to Bossier or up to Benton/Plain Dealing, over to Texas or down into DeSoto Parish. Hell, a giant chunk of the people that work in Shreveport live in Texas. You can't really look at Shreveport without looking at the entire ArklaTex region and take that into account.
Don't be mad when Shreveport becomes the city of the future.

It's funny how many Metairieites think Metairie IS basically Jefferson Parish.
