In an apocalyptic situation, it will take maybe 3 days for supplies to run out, and those will be fought over by panic-stricken herds of dumbasses. After that, there won't be any re-supply in the cities.

I'd much rather take my chances away from any city.

Rural would be best for the initial chaos. If it isn't viral I could see the pros of a neighborhood forming heir own protected area

In the country but near a few small towns where I know people pretty well so I could form a group to get supplies together.

Can’t assume it’s every man for himself. Most will end up in small groups with people of different skills for protection or survival

I'd want to be at a coastal military base such as those in Pensacola/Biloxi. Base has the arms to defend itself and access to the sea for fishing and escape if needed

Cities will turn to chaos quickly. After the initial wave will be less chaotic, but at first, a nightmare.

Country will be much less density, so less chaotic. Still, you’ll need to act fast initially for supplies with less vendors to choose from. I have a portable natural gas generator I can connect to the house, but I think having a backup solar generator could be useful too. I’d travel using my electric golf cart which can go about 40 miles on a single charge I’d guess.

Will any of that work after an EMP?
