I was working nights.
I had just showered and was giving my newborn a bottle before I was going to go to sleep.

In 1st grade. I remember my teacher wheeling in the tv, and all of us were happy we were getting a break from school. We spent the whole day watching CNN.I'll never forget those pictures. I also remember watching the news with my dad in tears.
You can say alot about GWB, but him saying we are gonna get those MFers that did this brought this country together when we needed it most.

9th Grade Biology... This particular teacher was the only teacher in the school that had a cable television in the classroom. We watched the second plane hit the WTC. Girl that was in front of me turned around and asked what's going on. My response was I think we're getting attacked.
Unrelated, that teacher was outed as a pedophile about 10 years later. Not the good kind. The male on male creeper kind.

I was living in Sydney, Australia at the time, and it was about 10:00ish on the night of September 11 over there when it all began. I was just starting to fall asleep when my wife woke me up when the first plane hit. The only American news channel we got down there was Fox, and I just sat up in bed, half awake, and thought it was a Cessna with a shitty pilot, so I laid back down. Soon after, I hear my brother-in-law in the living room yell out a string of vulgarities, and that is when the second plane had hit. I got out of bed and didn't go back to sleep until 4am. I called my mother in Baton Rouge, and she hadn't heard a thing about it, so I told her to put on CNN. By that time, Sky News in Australia had started picking up the CNN feed, so I was seeing the same news as my folks. My wife, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and myself just watched in disbelief for the next few hours as everything unfolded. I got three hours of sleep and went into work the next day. A lot of people down there didn't even know what had happened until they woke up that morning, and it was pretty much over by that time. Being the only American where I worked, people acted kind of funny around me, like they wanted to ask what I thought of it all but didn't want to ask.

I was on the way to work and heard the reports as it went down on Mike & Mike on ESPN radio. They already had it on tv when I got to work.

I'd just gotten home from work and was getting ready to go to bed (I was working nights back then) and my wife called me from her office. When I picked up the phone, she cried as she told me what had happened.
I turned on the TV and never went to bed that day. I watched both towers fall and I remember Peter Jennings reporting that a plane had also hit the Pentagon.
All day long there was one rumor after another of other planes that were flying low to stay under radar as they headed for other targets; White House, Space Needle in Seattle; etc.
Very, very surreal day. In fact, the rest of that entire week was surreal...

Attending UNO. It was Tuesday, so I had a class at 8 and 930. As I'm walking into 8 am class, overhear talk of a plane hitting WTC. Remember, 2001, not a lot of cell phones or whatnot in class. By 9:15, everyone leaves class and realizes what happened. Go to 930 class, we are there maybe 15 minutes and professor says F it, can't teach much today, and releases us. I had a meeting at the UC at 11 am, so I head over there, and there is a single tv in one of the lounges, at at least 100 people standing around it, no one talking.
Meeting was cancelled, I was off of work that day, so I went home and watched tv pretty much the whole day.

Home room class in 8th grade. Just remember pretty much every one rolling the tvs into the rooms and watching it the whole school day. Remember the image of my science teacher crying with her hand over her mouth as she watched.

I was own my way to work in Lafayette when the first plane hit. I was listening to the radio driving down the interstate and they reported a plane had hit the trade towers. At first all the details were sketchy and it sounded like some freak accident involving a small plane.
When I pulled up in the parking lot at work they reported that it was an airliner and then shortly after the next plane struck the second tower. Knew it was terrorism at that moment. When I got into the office I turned on the TV and we just sat around watching the whole thing unfold live.
