I was working for my uncle hanging siding as a side job through college. I was the only one at the site that morning, listening to 98.1

Was pretty surreal just sitting there by myself listening to the radio. Called my uncle, went to his house to watch with him. We sat there the rest of the day bewildered and drinking like fish.

I was in 5th grade and I'm still bitter that we were kept in the dark the entire school day. I'm sure there were odd things going on in the classroom with teachers, administrators, etc., but nothing so out of the ordinary to raise suspicion to a 11 year old.

Did not find out until the bus ride home. The bus driver told us to be quiet, that two planes flew into the WTC, and to listen to the radio. I remember getting home from school and both my mom and dad were already home (not normal) glued to the TV.

I was working for a couple shitass PI lawyers at the the time. When the news started coming out most employees started watching it on the conference room TV.

The lawyers told us to get back to work.

Well we were in the middle of a base wide exercise where many B-52 were uploaded with live weapons….

Force protection level went to Delta(highest level) out of nowhere. Most folks had no idea what was going on.

I worked a grave shift the night before and was at home eating breakfast and watching Cartoons. I got recalled back in, I had no idea what was going on….

When I came in through the North gate, I saw Air Force one make a pass…. Wtf??

Get armed up, and that is when I found out about the towers being hit and that President Bush would be landing soon.

So many different things going on at one time, many of us believed we were next for attack. We assumed they knew what was out of the flight line and we were the easy target.

Air Force one landed, President Bush and some staff were quickly put in a minivan and escorted off to the bunker. Yes a minivan ha ha, it was literally what was available in such short notice….

At the plant in Geismar. We heard on the radio about the first hit and turned on the TV. Saw the second plane hit and we locked down the facility about an hour later.

Hattiesburg. Worked the night before and got up to the news . Remember seeing the second plane hit live thinking it was a replay. Was very odd going to the restaurant that night .

Jury duty in Shreveport. I was at home when the first one hit. Then went to the courthouse. They stopped the trial and sequestered us. They had people on some of the roofs in downtown Shreveport with rifles because of Bush flying to Barksdale AFB.

Getting a haircut outside Fort Campbell watching the planes hit the towers. Barber finished the haircut super quick and said that I best get on post. I was in Kandahar four months later. My first son had gotten baptized the Sunday before. I ended up missing his first steps, his first words, his first birthday. In my mind it was rationalized as okay since by me taking care of business in Afghanistan then he’d never have to grow up and come to a shite hole like that. Joke was on me. The endless war dragged on for so long he was well within service age by the time it ended. War is a racket.

On my way into work listening to WJBO on the way in. Pulled into the office with everyone huddled around the TV just in time to watch the 2nd plane hit. Quite surreal.
