Thanks. I gave it to him as a kid, probably in the 90s. It wasn’t an especially good card but what I could find back then. They got 11feet off Greenwell Springs. Worst case scenario I had forgotten he had that card until I saw this thread so I can go to eBay for Christmas.

Great cards. The two on the left (Mantle & Maris) are from 1961. The year of the great homerun race between them.
A lot of these cards are worth well over $100 each. I don’t have a Beckett or anything, but I would easily say $1000 for these cards. The Lou Brock rookie looks very nice, maybe worth getting graded, as well as the Yaz rookie.

Cards are worth their value only of they are graded. Of course if you have a card that is valuable you can sell it, but you will not get the true value unless its graded.

Since the value can change significantly between grades anyone who will want to buy it is not going to take the risk of assuming its one grade when all it takes is it to be graded lower than they assume, which hurts its value and as a result they lose money.

Yes and no. Not everyone grades and grading time depending on service is taking 6-8 months at $200 per card to their walkthrough service at $600 per card.

Unless you’re grading a high end rookie or auto you’re better of selling raw.

have a Shaq rookie card from when right after he was drafted and the picture is him in an LSU jersey

Unfortunately players in their college jersey are not as collectible. All about the pro jersey.

Pro jerseys definitely fetch a bigger buck, but players from the big schools (LSU, OSU, Texas, Bama, etc) still bring in great money

Shaq rookies in his LSU gear still bring in a decent penny, but all shaq rookies are pretty cheap

I didn't bring anything with me, I was on a quest for a Gypsy Queen hobby box and some Bowman. I plan on bringing a few cards with me on my next trip to test it out. Got a pretty sharp cornered and centered Tatis rookie that has grade potential.

None of these new grading companies will be worth a shite after PSA opens back up.

They already aren't worth a shite now

Anthony Ranaudo has a new shop in Perkins Rowe. I believe it’s called Cards and Culture.
had no idea that’s dope.

Double play on Sherwood? I get the feeling they are more slanted towards comics, although it’s been years since I’ve been in there.

The card shows are back at the holiday inn on airline and I 12 they run quarterly. I was there earlier this summer got a jamarr chase Justin Jefferson and terrace Marshall lsu cards for like ten bucks, just as a memento of the visit.

Used to go all the time as a kid they will have another in the fall.

I feel like there is an opportunity for one or two more to enter the market. Supply is greater than demand. If somoen can make a foothold it might get going.

Whst boxes are yoy guys looking for. I get lucky with my contacts at certain stores. About to head to Down South Cards and Bats for some Bowman myself

Eta: I'm being told people use this to gage where it might land with psa and whether or not to send it off

This market isn't an infinite timeline, it will die. The only 3 that will still be around in 10 years are PSA, BGS and CSG.

All these other BS companies claiming AI tech and all this non-sense aren't going to go anywhere. Their claims are all baseless junk because if it was anything remotely true, the big 3 or another major company would have already purchased them.

I get that. I'm not claiming someone is going to knock them out the market. I am curious if thry can find a niche amidst the back log
