Where to live in Metro BR?

Single guy, mid 40's, work is near I-10 and Bluebonnet. 250-350 price range, don't mind 30 minute commute or so but would like to minimize that.

I would look at neighborhoods near Perkins Rowe or Oliphant
If you're willing to stretch it to closer to 15-20 minutes, I would look at the neighborhoods off Highland between Bluebonnet and Country Club

true. But OP, outside of this bike lane controversy, I'd consider Capital Heights area...

Seconded, or somewhere around midcity. This area's being revitalized and it's real easy to get to/from LSU area, downtown, etc. You can take acadian to I-10 or jefferson to get to work in 15/20 min

I'd find a smaller house in Capital Heights or somewhere else in Mid City.
Maybe look into one of those fancy new condos next to the IBM building downtown if you don't want a yard.

I have several friends who live in the Jefferson Terrace area, very close to I-10/Bluebonnet. If you are working at BC/BS, even closer.

What are your priorities? 30 minute commute gives you a pretty good radius to work with around BR (although I would stay on the East side of the MS river to not have to screw with the bridge or the 1-lane portion of I-10).
I have a 30-35 minute commute and I live pretty far south in BR and work at the far northern edge.

Cap heights or possibly southdowns near the perkins road overpass. Both have some walkable areas (midcity about to become a lot moreso) and are not bad travel times to pretty much anywhere in the city. Both have access a lot of good restaurants/bars.

Job, family ties, there are lots of reasons.
I'd live in BR again before I'd move to Dallas.
