Where would be a more comfortable place to enjoy the cold weather in either a large (5000 sq ft) or small log cabin? Utah or western Kansas where it’s flat as can be?

I've been wanting to visit Utah, I would pick there between these two choices.

Kansas is pretty shitty.

Why not Montana?

Not many logs in Kansas. You'd have to build a sod house.

Utah.

Kansas deals with blistering heat and cold winds.

Cold is easy to deal with. The winds, not so much.

Overland Park and Lawrence seem tolerable. Everything else was just so damn depressing.

Utah is perfectly rated. South Dakota is the most underrated place in the US, specifically Rapid City.

Utah, not even remotely close competition. I have spent a fair amount of time in both.
