The weather in the valley in summer is no different than any city not named Marfa. And it does get cold. While it was snowing here the other day they got a little sleet. Christmas 2004 it snowed 4.5 inches.

You think living in Odessa or Brownsville is better than living in say Mandeville? That's insane. Contrary to the OT narrative, there are nice areas in LA, even wealthy ones

I drive through this area when headed to La or if I work in Beaumont. I mean it’s not great but there are so many little cities that are desolate. I’m in Colorado City this week and it’s dead.
