Where does the nuclear family fall on the list of successful evolutionary developments?

Meaning one man and one woman raising children that are theirs either on their own or in an extended family type setup.
I've seen a human evolution show or two over the years which mention this as one of the kick starters of humans thriving.
(you can substitute intelligent design development for evolutionary development if you tend in that direction).

Just giving you a hard time, but yeah, it is near the very top of the list of reasons a society would thrive. Although, certain sects of today's society would tell you it has no bearing at all.

Read "Sapiens" it's a great account of human development and interesting speculation on the future. He isn't a Christian, but says that religion and the domestication of wheat and animals was the most significant development that caused hunter gatherer groups to become tribes and nations.
