retty typical. I wanted to move to NYC at 24. When you get older, you get less impressed with that stuff.

You get less impressed by everything this world has to offer. Except for natural beauty and wonders.

Absolutely, if you have grown as a human.

Baton Ruin, is by any objective measure a complete dumpster fire. No culture, just a never-ending sprawled out waste-land of strip malls and soulless office space. Trash and litter all over the place. Crooked politicians. Rage inducing traffic. Gang bangers and feral animals wandering the streets. Toxic chemical plants spewing carcinogens into the air. Restaurants serving mostly fried seafood. And a mayor and police chief who hate you, your families, and are holding the city hostage (just like what happened in Jackson, MS.).

But for LSU the city really has no reason to exist and should be flushed down the toilet.

Baton Ruin will go the way of Gary, Indiana. Louisiana overall is just a pitiful, sad state, whose bountiful resources have been squandered by venal crooks and maladjusted trash. Unashamed corruption is how the rest of the country sees you.

Maybe St. George can save the region, but I doubt the PTB are going to let that happen.

There are so many better places to relocate. Just grab a map and throw a dart. Anywhere USA is so much better than Baton Ruin.

My vote goes to Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

They fail due to low level public schools relative to taxes and liberal city leadership.

you realize Wake county is one of the nations largest school districts? You want to see pictures of the schools my kids go to? yes, taxes are somewhat high but we have nice schools, roads, and parks.

Yeah, the criticism that RDC has bad schools is laughable. The public school system down there is decent, plus there are plenty of good magnet and private schools.

Omaha Safety: 7/10,
they are an 8 on a hundred point scale on neighborhood scout. BR is a 1 or a 2. Not nearly safe enough for me to deal with snow and non southern food and hospitality. Try again.

I’d really like to move to Wyoming. It looks beautiful.

Wyoming is very affordable if you like flat and windy. If you want to live in the part where you can look out your window at a scenic mountain view, be prepared for OT Baller real estate prices.

The cheapest thing in town right now is 460k for a 550 sqft studio. It's pretty bonkers - I don't know how some folks afford to stay here long term.

I bought in to a portion of a semi-ranch outside of town and I am ashamed what I am paying to be a middle aged man with a roommate. Nice view, though, and a stable, so it ain't all bad.

I've never found southern hospitality to be genuine, nor there to be a monopoly on good food. But I suppose we all have different tastes.

I've spent a good bit of time in Omaha and Lincoln. The people are friendly and it's a nice place. It gets very cold in the winter and there are some wicked storms in the spring/summer but it would be a good place to raise a family. Yeah there's no cajun food but I had plenty of meals there that I enjoyed. You are going to have to cook that at home just about anywhere you move.

Grand Lake, Lake Texoma, Lake Eufala, Hugo Lake, Tenkiller Lake and McGee Creek.

Great striper fishing, blue catfish, largemouth and crappie.

But 2 of the greatest things about my farm in Oklahoma are:

1. I never piss inside the house.
2. Oklahoma is becoming a major power in marijuana production due to low costs and basically no regulation.

The capitol of LA, state government, petrochemical industry, various businesses (like CocaCola warehouse, Mockler Beverage supplying products to the area), airport, restaurants, a big housing population. But yeah, there’s no reason for BR to exist other than LSU.

Have you ever been to college Station or Oxford or Starkville? Those are cities with no reason other than the college. Get your head out of your arse.
